Pedralbes: a walk in the Park
Located on the Avenida Diagonal, this 20th century palace is probably worth a visit if you happen to have half an hour to spend in the Pedralbes - Les Corts district.
More than in its architectonic value, which is actually quite scarce, its interest lies in the surrounding park. Beyond boasting a quite significant extension, indeed, Parc de Pedralbes houses several different botanic species and offers charming views of ponds, fountains and different kinds of flowers and trees. The Parc is open every day from 10 to 18, and it is quite common to see local people going there for their jogging session or having a relaxing walk enjoying the natural environment.
The Palace currently houses three museums, though just one of them permanently (Museu de Ceramica), while the others (Museu de les Arts Decoratives, Museu Textil i d'Indumentaria) are to be transferred soon. At the time of my visit, indeed, the museums were closed. At any rate, as many other places in Barcelona, on the first Sunday of every month free entrance to the Palace is offered.
The best way to get to Palau Reial is with the underground, as the homonymous stop is placed right opposite the park. Anyway, a visit to the Palace could be integrated in a wider tour including other (more) interesting places nearby, such as Monestir de Pedralbes or Camp Nou or Pavellons Guell.
