Not a Pastel de Belem, but almost
The most famous sweet in Portugal is Pastel de Belem, a pastel de nata made in Belem's bakery (which I talked about here). Those are the best in the world in my opinion, but there are people who say the ones made in Manteigaria are better.
Manteigaria is a bakery located in Alta neighbourhood in Lisbon, really close to Praça Luis de Camões, a very touritic area. They are specialized in pasteis de nata, a sweet puff pastry little pie stuffed with a cream made of eggs, sugar, milk and cinnamon, that the portuguese call nata.
In Manteigaria you'll be able to see how these sweets are made while eating one (if you are able to stop at one) of them. It is indeed delicious and the best thing is that they are really homemade and fresh. You'll eat them while they're still hot, right from the oven!
Also, to make everything even better, it's really cheap. Each Pastel de Nata is 1 euro and for another 90 cents you can have a coffe to drink with. Great option for a dessert after lunch or even an afternoon break.
If you're in Lisbon, don't miss this place! And let me know if you prefer Manteigaria or Pasteis de Belem bakery.
