La Roneria

La Roneria is situated close by to Santa Eulalia square, in the city of Murcia, on Canovas del Castillo street. This street is home to many great bars and tapas places, although I would advise having a snack at La Roneria before heading out, or alternatively end your night there with a drink.

This place has loads of different rums from many countries. From the five continents to be more exact. They have rums from Cuba, Spain, Madagascar, Australia... the choice is enormous and there are all sorts of rums... (old, young, more expensive, more cheap, worse or better quality, black, white... ). They also have more than 100 different whiskeys, more than fifty beers and cocktails. This is what appeals to me the most, as I don't really like rum.

The cocktails start at five euros. I recommend the mojito most of all.

The place is divided into three parts. The main entrance goes into the first part, which is very small with seating. There's a large bar and everything is wooden. On the right there is a more narrow, but larger room which is decorated in a marine style. It is painted white, as is the bar itself. Most of the time this bar is closed. Then there is a third room downstairs. In here there is also another bar. If it is closed it is a bit of a pain because you have to climb upstairs to get drinks. But well... this room is the largest, there are several large tables so if you do come as a group, it's best to go down here. This is also where the toilets are.

The only downside of La Roneria is the temperature: it's very cold, even in summer as they put the air-conditioning at full blast. In truth without my scarf and jumper I get cold there. So I advise you to always bring them with you - even in summer - because the temperature never exceeds 18 degrees I think. :s

But apart from that I recommend the place, it is very cool.
