Notting Hill – best Italian ice-cream, creative vibe and colourful houses
Have you ever wondered what is the most Instagrammable place in London? Which part of London is mostly captured on the photoshoots and Instagram stories?
You found your answer. Notting Hill.
Notting Hill is widely known due to settings of the movies such as ‘’Paddington’’ or romantic film ‘’Notting Hill’’ with the famous Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. If you haven’t watched these movies, I recommend you do your homework, as this will give you new insights into this special place.
Where it is?
Notting Hill is located in the West London, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and for those who travel – it is just 2 stops from the Oxford Circus on the Central Line. You can get on Notting Hill Gate and walk towards the Portobello Road Market. You will be amazed by so many artists, crafts and small bookshops selling antiques. Back in 1870, Notting Hill was already known for the artistic atmosphere, but today is also associated with the multicultural and cosmopolitan views.
First time when I came to explore Notting Hill I felt if I am in Italy. I could hear Italian tourists, excitedly sharing their opinions with each other on the Portobello Road Market. This market is commonly known for the antiques and second-hand shops, as well as clothes, fruits, vegetables and unique handmade staff you won’t find anywhere else. Who knows, maybe you will so lucky and you will meet a famous artist illustrating books? (we did!)
Unico Gelato
After walking along the Portobello Market, I suggest stopping for a delicious Stracciatella or Pistachio ice-cream at Unico Gelato. Also, what surprised me most, is the fact that they have vegan charcoal croissants and the best mango and strawberry ice cream! Moreover, if you are looking for a masterpiece in the form of delicious cake, you will find a wide range of it here. Definitely very artistic, warm place with the friendly Italian staff.

Colourful Houses
Next, after enjoying our dark chocolate ice-cream we went to find those colourful houses every tourist has to capture. If you watched ‘’Paddington’’ you may recognize the same streets and houses you see right now in front of yourself – yellow, purple, blue, pink, violet… at one moment I forgot that I am in the centre of London!
If you have more time to explore Notting Hill, check are there any events or carnavals planned. As this place is so artistic, there may be more interesting workshops, concerts or events you could join. However, without no doubts, you should explore Portobello Marketand unique little designer shops, antiques, bookshops to the fullest.
