Churrasqueira Cidade!

This is a restaurant that I visited I don’t know how many times. All the time you pass by this restaurant you smell that delicious, grilled meat. The restaurant offers various kinds of meat and fish. The inside of this churrasqueira looks very neat and clean, and the waiters treat you very nicely. A service you would expect in the more expensive restaurants, but nothing is less true for Churrasqueira Cidade. You can also take-away, which I also used to do if I didn’t wanted or had time to cook. They are very fast!

They have a restaurant in Porto (the one I used to visit) and one in Vila Nova de Gaia. The restaurants already exist for around 40 years. They have a smoke-free dining room (around 100 people fit in there) upstairs and one downstairs for the smokers (a little smaller room, for around 80 people). The food is traditionally Portuguese and is visited by Portuguese people as well as tourists. However, I think not many tourists and Erasmus students know this place yet so I think I have a good reason to share this restaurant on this blog!

When you enter and take a seat, they give you bread (white bread and home-made brown bread) with butter, cheese or pate, sausages and olives. It’s a very good start. The dish that I used to order often is the “churrasco misto”, which includes many kinds of meat (pork in different ways, cow meat, chicken, etc. ). This dish is for 4-6 persons, and costs only 20 euros! Incredibly cheap for the quality and quantity of the food! You can order the dish with fries, rice and salad, which does not make the end price much higher.
