Nice welcoming
If you're going to Porto by train, you will probably arrive at São Bento railway station, the most central station in the city. Besides the great location, the station is also really beautiful, with 19th century architecture and portuguese tiles, it is a great way to be welcomed to Porto.
It could also be a nice way to say goodbye. From São Bento station you can get trains to almost every big portuguese city: Coimbra, Lisbon, Braga, Guimarães, Aveiro. You name it.
In the main hall you'll be stunned by the tiles in the walls that tells episodes of portuguese history, and you'll be entertained by the pannel showing the many places you can go from there. I could spend hours just deciding my next stop and watching people coming and going.
Even if you're not geting a train in the city, the station is a must see. You can get there by subway and it is just some minutes walking from many touristic places in Porto, such as Ribeira, Praça da Liberdade, Mercado do Bolhão and Santa Catarina street.
