St. Peter's Basilica
The St. Peter’s Basilica belongs to the Vatican and is one of the biggest churches in the world. Its impressive artwork and architecture attracts a massive flow of tourists each year. A highlight is, especially, the dome of the basilica. The size of the dome is so big that one can see from the far, it also highly defines the skyline of Rome. Next to its impressive architecture, it attracts so many tourists due to its symbolic meaning for Christendom. Another reason is Michelangelo’s contribution to the Basilica, remaining an extraordinary aspect in the Basilica. In front of the St. Peter’s Basilica lies the St. Peter’s Square which is also very impressive. Due to its connection to the Vatican it is often the case that tourists can see the Swiss Guard fulfilling their duty. It always raises enormous interest to see them in their uniform as it is something special. The level of security to enter the St. Peter Basilica has been raised over the years including handbag controls and also higher restrictions with regards to appropriate clothing. Therefore, clothes for a visit to the Vatican or the St. Peter’s Basilica should be carefully chosen.
