I am extremely glad that I had the opportunity to travel so much at my age. As I am only nineteen years old, I have been on an airplane thirty-nine times, I have visited over ten countries and have been back to some cities more than twice. One of them is Rome, or as Italians call it, Caput Mundi. Every road leads to Rome, people say.
A big part of everyone's trip is probably the place where they are going to spend the night. If you do not feel comfortable sleeping somewhere, for instance, because the place is dirty, the service is bad, and the surroundings are a bit sketchy, you will not enjoy your trip as much as you would if your place was welcoming. Why? Because if your trip is, let's say, one week long and you do not sleep well for a week, you will not be able to do as many things as you would if you were well rested and ready to be out and about the whole day. I am not speaking about luxurious hotels, it can be literally anywhere, even a hostel, but it has to be clean and the atmosphere should be relaxed and cozy.
When my American brother and I went to Rome, we booked a Bed And Breakfast only two weeks in advance, which did not give us the best price, but it certainly was not bad either. We spent less than thirty euros per night and our breakfast was included. We had air conditioning in the room and a television. Considering that it was also high season (Rome is always full of tourists, but the summer is even worst) we felt like we were very lucky. Why? Apart from the very good service and welcoming staff we had the opportunity to be served by, the location was great. This place is a few meters away from Ottaviano metro stop. If you do not know the city of Rome, look it up on Google Maps and you will find out it is a great location. In the heart of the Vatican city, this place is just a few minutes walk from the Vatican Museums.
We found this place on booking, and when we were browsing through the pictures we saw that we could also ask for two single beds in one room. I did so but when we arrived we found out that we had only a big bed. As my American brother and I are two big guys we did not like the idea, but we did not complain much because, again, everything else was good.
The rooms are small and cozy, not really spacious but we did not care as we were there just to spend the night, we would spend the day out sightseeing. Also, the breakfast was good. Not a big variety of things, as they basically had just what Italians normally eat in the morning: croissants, juices, coffee, bread, Nutella, cappuccino and stuff like that.
We met a couple of people who worked there. The first one was the older guy who welcomed us at the front desk and showed us the room, the second was the guy who asked us what we wanted for breakfast and he served us the food we wanted. He was very nice and one of the mornings he even offered us more croissants because the other guests left their rooms without eating theirs, and he did not want to throw them out. He also gave us some advice on what to do in the city and how to reach stuff from the bed and breakfast.
This is probably one of the best bed and breakfasts I have been to. We are talking about July 2016, so I hope that things did not change, and if they did I only hope they improved. Their booking grade is currently 8.7 out of ten, which I think is still very good. In the gallery, you can find some of the pictures I have downloaded from their booking page.
