The Prado Museum

I was walking around Madrid when I suddenly realised I didn't know where I was any more. I didn't have phone signal, only money. Very importantly, I wanted to visit something. I was walking through a park when I saw an enormous building: The Prado Museum (el Museo del Prado).

The Prado Museum

Our teacher told us a lot about it and told us it's very important that we go to see it; but never had I imagined that I would find it by mistake.

I approached it thinking it was something else, read the price and the opening hours a little and decided to proceed.

The Prado Museum

I paid 6 euros and could see an unique exposition in Spain, that of Gaudi. When I entered, I was able to leave my clothes. I received some information and a map. The museum wasn't immense, enormous or gigantic but it certainly had a load of paintings. I started with the Gaudi exposition where I could see his works close up.

The guard was very attentive, in order for us to not take photos.

I was able to see the great painter Velázquez's 'The ladies in waiting' and Goya's 'The executions of May 3rd'... Many Italian painters. From the Quattrocento (the fifteenth century), I have to mention Fra Angelico's 'The Annunciation', Botticelli's 'Nastagio degli Onesti', Mantegna's 'The dormition of the virgin' and Antonello de Messina's 'Christ held by an angel'. They are works with an impressive worth.

Prado is considered the most important picture and art museum in Europe. I went for Velázquez, El Greco and Goya but also for Tiziano, Rubens and El Bosco.

For young artists, Prado is a necessary museum. It has very important works and an enormous amount.

All the Spaniards we asked for something helped us with great pleasure. It's a charming country!
