The biggest squad in Madrid
La Tabacalera is the largest squad house in Madrid. For those of you who don’t know what squad is, it is a place, occupied by people who take care of it, usually live there and sometimes organize certain activities.
I am not sure if anyone lives in the La Tabacalera, but I am sure it’s many people’s favorite place to visit. It is an ex-tobacco factory. Nowadays, it offers millions of activities. It has a bar, children’s place, a patio (a yard), dancing place, workshops, books, art, eco activities, etc. It has anything basically.
One of my best friends was going to Indian dancing workshop. It was organized by people from South America, who were much related to their native traditions and beliefs. It was amazing. Another friend of mine goes to Capoeria in the Tabacalera.
On Thursdays you could also see jugglers, some of them at a really high level. In the basement there are workshops for drawing and graffiti. There is even a recording studio. La Tabacalera is not for everyone.
You better be open minded, a hippie, or eco-oriented if you want to visit La Tabacalera. Otherwise, you might think it is a weird place.
