The Plaza Mayor(Main Square)

I like Plaza Mayor because it is big and it makes you just want to sit down and rest when you are exhausted(we all know that when we visit places, we walk a lot). There is always an activity going on there no matter the season(let it be winter or summer). But, be careful with your wallet because there are a lot pickpockets around the area.

The buildings surrounding the Main Square were built in the 19th century. They are well kept and they look very beautiful because they are covered with frescoes and paint. In the past, there was a market there. There is a lot of business in the area and there are found in the buildings ground floor. It is really nice because not only is it situated in one of the most important area in Madrid but most of the goods sold there are not too expensive. There is also a paint exhibition and the artist that painted the portraits sell them (caricatures and landscapes) just as it is done in many big cities.

I advice you to allocate some time to look at the facades because they are really incredible. In the center, there is a little fountain and a lot of statues surrounding it on which we can sit down.
