Cereal Hunters

Cereal Hunters is the name of the establishment located on Calle Mejía Lequerica, 14 (28004 Madrid), close to the Alonso Martínez metro station. Here, as its name state, an extensive menu of cereal is offered, which can be ordered with different and original types of milk. Does it sound weird to you? I will explain everything to you now.

Location

Its location is excellent, as it's located right in the heart of Madrid, making it easily accessible. Getting to Calle Mejía Lequerica is really simple. From Alonso Martínez metro station, we must only go through the Plaza de Santa Bárbara, and, at the end of this, continue along Calle Hortaleza. The street on which the building is located is the first one. We must head to our right, and on that very pavement on the right-hand side, we will find Cereal Hunters. All in all, it takes about 5 minutes to get there.

Another metro station that's really close to Cereal Hunters is Tribunal. If we were to go there from this station, we would have to walk down Calle Barceló, perpendicular to Calle Fuencarral, and at the end of the street, just on the next block opposite, is Cereal Hunters - that street is also perpendicular to Calle Barceló.

Opening Hours

With it primarily being a cereal shop, it's a good option for both breakfast and an afternoon snack, or even dinner for that matter. Obviously, that depends on each individual's personal taste, but it's possible thanks to the café's opening hours being from 9am to 10pm.

Personally, I recommend avoiding the peak hours at both breakfast-time and mid-afternoon, as that is when absolutely everyone else will go; if you go before or after this, you will avoid having to queue. One hour I would particularly avoid going at is 6pm.

It's much better if you go at 5pm, and you will see how the huge queue of people starts to form as it edges closer to 6pm, or go some time later, around 7:30-8pm, when the crowds of people will have finished their food.

What's on offer?

As you can guess from the name and what I have already talked about, this establishment offers a huge variety of cereal: more than 150 different types! Many of these cereals are imported, which means that you can try typical cereals of a variety of other countries, even those of other continents, which are normally not available for us to buy in our supermarkets. In my opinion, this is a big selling point in favour of Cereal Hunters.

All of their cereals can be ordered with a milk accompaniment, although many people enjoy eating their cereal plain.

In terms of milk, there is also a huge variety available: in fact, there are more than twenty types of milk!

All of the cereals are served in really cute bowls, and you can choose the size in accordance with how hungry you are and how much you want to devour your cereal (and therefore, according to the size chosen, the prices vary, increasing up to 5€).

Why is it so popular?

It’s an extremely popular place, not only among tourists and chance passers-by who walk through the surrounding area and decide to venture into the café, but also among the people who come on mass because it’s very fashionable.

By now, the majority of Madrid’s population has been to Cereal Hunters at some point, or have at least passed by to take a photo.

This is because the variety of cereals on offer is much greater than the ChocaPic and Kelloggs that we have all eaten for breakfast, offering many cereals that are very colourful for the photos that you'll take. And if you also add the coloured milk served in an old milk bottle (for example, vanilla milk is yellow, and there is also pink and blue, depending on the flavour), it makes your photos even more attractive and beautiful.

And, as simple as it is, they offer a delicious snack at an affordable price. But, before devouring it, you must take a photo of your bowl of cereal and your milk and be very "Instagrammer".

In the background (but are also very much 'in demand' for Instagram) are the walls that are decorated with the most interesting and fun boxes of different cereals. I don't know if you know, but there are actually people who collect these different cereal boxes.

Conclusion

If you like enjoying a tasty breakfast or afternoon snack, as well as keeping up the standard of your Instagram feed and increasing the number of likes your "plandids" get, then Cereal Hunters is an obligatory visit for any wannabe Instagrammer.

I hope that you enjoy it!
