CHURR BURGER | BURGER WONDERLAND

Burgers. I love them and I’m sure I’m not the only one. “Churr Burger” in Surry Hills offer excellent burgers using various types of meat and seafood and of course vegetables for those with that preference. I have a feeling that the menu has changed since the last time I was there, however I would still recommend this place for its taste and creativity in bring what we all know as a regular burger, to the next level of awesomeness.

For a start, the burgers do not come with fries, very unfortunate indeed. However they are available as a side, along with other options as well. Since I was there with a group of my friends, we pretty tried half if not more of the burgers that were on the menu.

I went for a pulled pork burger with purple slaws and sticky BBQ sauce - this wasn't the name and I’m just simply making it up from my superb photographic memory of the burger. Another friend opted for a chicken burger with a tomato based sauce, pickles and probably what was melted cheese. Another option we got to try was the lamb burger, which was created to reflect the Middle Eastern flavours of herbs and spices of the marinate.

We ordered fries to share, with chilli salt on the side. The chilli salt wasn’t very flavorful, as in it was neither very salty nor very spicy. It was like a strangely combined salt and chilli powder. We did add some real salt to it to save the fries - or chips.

My burger was delicious. The bun was beautifully toasted, crispy and soft on the inside. The bun was a generous size and I love how the thick it was. Often times thinner buns tend to be dried out and overly crispy when toasted, leaving no real texture of the bread - at the end of the day, the bun is simply a bread! The pork was juicy and full of taste. It went perfectly well with the BBQ sauce which was sweet and salty and not overly powerful. The slaws were crunchy and the taste was not overlooked its neighbouring ingredients.

My friends also thoroughly enjoyed their burgers, and only left a small bite for me I think.

Other than the food, we tried a few different drinks as well. I thought it was a good idea at the time to order some lemonade to go with my burger, for that American diner kind of experience. That turned out well, since I like to explore new brands of drinks that I’m not too familiar with. At the end of the day, a lemonade is a lemonade, but it was good nonetheless.

I would recommend this place to burger lovers out there. This place is very focused on its burgers and take them very seriously. It would be misleading to put the word Burger in the name of the restaurant if the actually burger tasted bad, but this place does live up to its hype.

Check out there website for the latest menu, opening hours, awesome deals and most importantly, the location so you don't get lost while your stomach rumbles.
