BONDI PIZZA WEEKEND

Published by flag- Oat Sitalasai — 9 years ago

This is going to be short one, I hope. During my last few weeks in Sydney I had the chance to finally tried the pizzas at Bondi Pizza. For some reason, there was somewhat a real hype surrounding the place within my friends, but I never had the chance to check them out.

The pizza menu was quite large and I had difficulty picking what I wanted to have. You know, that feelings when you’re super hungry because you chose to skip breakfast so you could just dive straight into lunch? Yeah, that feeling.

I finally got my head around the menu and ordered fried salt and pepper calamari with house mayo for entree - sorry for some reason, probably because I was way too hungry, I didn't even bother taking pictures of the calamaris.. I love salt and pepper calamari and I adore mayonnaise and its cousins. The entree arrived within 10 minutes, which at the time was very pleasing as it was Saturday lunch time. It was very well-seasoned and beautifully executed. The mayo though, was not the best I’ve had. I felt that it was a touch too lemony for me. Nonetheless, I finished both the calamaris and the mayo.

For the main event, I order a pizza that consisted of chorizos, tomatoes, basil and what I recall now as mozzarella cheese. No complaints about the pizza. It was delicious, but it wasn’t great. I sound very picky again but when you have precious brain-washing from your friends about how good the place is, you do question things around you. It was a nice pizza, but I don’t know what was missing. Perhaps I need to return and order something else off the menu, so I would have a clearer idea. I think that’s a good idea.

If you want to check them out, make sure you take the train or bus to Bondi Junction, and not Bondi Beach! The restaurant is located in the Westfields shopping center, along with other specialty cuisines.

I would recommend going to the shopping center and see what other options you have. You can always change your mind since there are places that serve Chinese (with live, fresh seafood), and other few that specialize in grilled items. Bondi Pizza also has locations elsewhere in New South Wales, in case you want to go out of the Bondi area or find something closer to yours.
