CROWNE PLAZA | HUNTER VALLEY ACCOMMODATION

Published by flag- Oat Sitalasai — 9 years ago

I did talk about how great Hunter Valley is in my previous post, and just merely missed out on discussing my accommodation option for the trip. Here it is, a post about “Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Resort” in which was our home for one night.

The resort hotel is located in a great location and has many vineyards and breweries nearby. As you drive through the front gate of the hotel, some of you will be happy to see that there’s a huge golf course inside the fence of the property. Even if you don’t play golf like me, you would still be amazed at staying in a hotel surrounded by the greens of the golf course!

Now that we’re in the top of golf course, a clear advantage of staying here is that you could decide to play golf the night before since its right in front of you! It is an 18-hole Championship golf course that has been used and preferred by many professionals. If your knowledge of golf is close to non-existent like mine, you could still enjoy a fantastic view of the landscape from the golf course. You don’t necessarily have to bring all your gears with you. The club has a shop in which you could make required purchases as well as items and equipments for you to hire. The knowledge and expertise of the staffs is also something you would get here. I am not at all making this up, since we did get a tour of the golf course, the shop and the amazing facilities. The orientation was carried out by a gentleman who really knows his stuff. Other than knowledge, he’s also really passionate for the game, and also this picturesque surroundings. And since the golf course is just a quick walk from the guest room, they do have special rates for in house hotel guests. The best way is to book as early in advance as possible, since the demand could be quite high.

If you’re not into golf, they also have two tennis courts with rackets and balls available through the team at reception. And if you feel that all the eating and drinking and time spent relaxing have made you gained a few pounds, you are also more than welcome to use the facilities at the gym. Access to the gym is complimentary for hotel guests and the best aspect of all, is that it’s opened 24 hours a day. This is really thoughtful considering that we all have different plans. Now, you don’t have an excuse to not go to the gym!

And now for the most important part of your stay: the rooms. I stayed in a double room as I shared it with another friend of mine. The room type we stayed in was the most basic of all, known as the Deluxe Room. The beds were comfy as they should be in hotels of this tier. Then you’ve got the usual facilities like cable TV, coffee and tea making facilities, a hair dryer and internet access (for a charge). The worst part was the internet for a fee, but most of the bigger hotels tend to implement this policy nowadays. Needless to say, we didn’t pay extra for the internet. If you’re interested, they also have more spectacular room types, for a higher rate.

We also had the chance to try their breakfast. I would say that they do have a decent range of items you can choose from. Oh just to add the name of the restaurant that serves breakfast is called Red Salt. We had breakfast included in our rate so we didn’t have to pay extra, but if you were to take up the breakfast in the morning, the cost for it is $33.00 for the full buffet breakfast option and $28.00 for the continental buffet option. Children from five to twelve have a discounted rate at $15.00 per person. The best part of breakfast was definitely ordering eggs the way you like. If you fancy an omelet, you could put in an order through the chef himself. If you don’t know what you should put in your omelet, you can always ask the chef for suggestions! Other than omelettes and fried eggs, you may also asked for poached eggs, boiled eggs, as well as the more luxurious eggs benedict and eggs florentine. You will have to wait before your order reaches the table. That’s not a biggie, since you could help yourself to the hot and cold buffet selection in the mean time. They also serve dinner here, in which they said is one of the most sought after dinner places in the area. Bookings for the dinner period is essential to avoid missed opportunities to find a table.

They also have a spa here in which prides itself of your relaxation and satisfaction. We also did a quick tour in the spa and were shown all of their facilities for all the different treatments on the spa menu. The spa has its own section on the hotel website, so be sure to check it out if you’re keen. The menu is online and they always have promotions and offers to attract potential relaxers.

Throughout the hotel, more so in the lobby and in the outside terrace, you will be able to enjoy sitting in a spot with friends. They do a really good job of positioning their sofas, chairs and benches through the main areas for guests to enjoy both the hotel infrastructure and the surroundings. We always sat by the pool and lied down on the foldable seats. The breeze that goes through the hotel is amazing too.

All in all, The Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Resort is a great place to spend your day and night in Hunter Valley. It is a part of the larger Intercontinental Hotel Group in which also owns a more luxurious brand of InterContinental Hotels. The rates are high in comparison to other smaller accommodation, but that’s also a reflection of what you’ll get in return. The hotel has various faculties to guarantee that not only you enjoy the room, but that you also get the aspects that make Hunter Valley a great destination. You could literally just spend your day at the hotel, with their recreational, sporting, and well-being focused facilities.

Happy relaxing and don’t drink too much!
