NEW IN TOWN | BREWTOWN NEWTOWN

Here’s another famous one, and rightly so. Located in a more casual and easy-going suburb of Newtown, sits in a small alleyway a cafe by the name of “Brewtown Newtown”. I am still confused until this very day whether Brewtown or Newtown comes first in the name of the cafe, but that’s only a 50% chance of failing.

This cafe is an interesting one, because talk highly of it for its mega-hit cronuts, its brunching game, its coffees and its decor. Honestly, I can’t fault this place. The staff were friendly and easy to talk to and the service was fast.

The food was great. I had a simple breakfast dish with bacon, house-made hash brown balls, and also house-made dark sausages. And of course, soft poached eggs. It was very simple and very delicious, basically how breakfast should be. The hash browns were unique since the texture was that of grated potatoes. There were lines of potatoes that you could feel when cutting through, which was quite new to me. The sausages were also very nice, and it was very kind of who ever plated the dish for giving not two, and not three, but five friggin slices! How kind. Oh and I forgot one more thing. Sitting just underneath the bacon was some homemade tomato sauce. Not sure what it was but it was close toa tomato chutney. It was really good with the hash browns, which needed a bit of a sauce like ketchup or BBQ. But that sauce was really really good.

My friend order another breakfast classic, the eggs benedict with a side of hash browns. It wasn’t your typical egg benny dish, as English muffins were replaced by a thick slice of toasted sourdough bread. She finished everything on the plate, so it’s safe to assume that it was quite good.

We then ordered some cronuts, which were delicious. It was different to what I had at Adriano Zumbo with the zonut. You could call this version a much more clean, and simple version. They didn’t have many variations. From the top of my head, there were plain ones with just sugar coating, then strawberry jam, and maybe one with cinnamon. By the time we finished our breakfast and had order the cronuts, there were only two flavours left so we didn’t have much of a dilemma. This was though, only because we had gone there around 1:00pm, and the early birds had already taken out a good portion of the fresh cronuts.

It was a brunch of creativity and flavours for sure. This place is for sure worth your visit.

As always, I've provided the link to the page of Brewtown Newtown for your convenience!
