U Chlupatýho Ducha

U Chlupatýho Ducha is one of my favourite places in Prague. If not the favourite. It is a cafe, a bar and a restaurant at the same time. The name in czech means: to the hairy ghost. I'm not going to tell you the story behind the name, but on the menu you can read it in several languages (OK, at least in Czech and English) :)

It has a charming atmosphere with its mosaics and warm colours. I can say that it really seems like you are entering in another universe, the universe of the old and lost Prague, or the universe of the ghosts of Prague. :)

It is located right in the center of Prague, close to Vltava river. However, its prices are still moderate (beer for 35Kč) and the direct surrounding is surprisingly quiet. The restaurant is underground and you have to take the stairs to reach the rooms that are probably transformed from "historical cellars". They have nice Czech beers and not only Pilsner or Gambrinus (which is important if you don't spend only one day in Prague and after the third beer you would just try something else than the most common beers.... ). Also, the cuisine is mainly Czech, but in the menu you will find all sort of foods: like pizzas or pastas. I would also suggest for you to try one of their soups or the pancakes (below on the second picture), but generally I have never eaten anything bad here. :)

They also have offers that you can find on their web page, e. g. for ISIC cardholders! The stuff is usually very kind. And don't forget that in Czech Republic they expect tips! So... enjoy your visit! ;)
