Pirelli HangarBicocca is an contemporary art gallery living inside an industrial-plant-converted-to-gallery. It houses one permanent exhibition of Anselm Kiefer'sI Sette Palazzi Celesti and other spaces for the ever-changing-super-awesome artistic programmes. It is located in the northern Milan, in Bicocca. Take M5 Milan Metropolitana and stop at Pionale or Bus 82 from centrale and stop at Pirelli HangarBicocca to take you there.
It is not just the gallery and the programme that is magnificent, but also the garden in front of the building that welcome the visitors as they enter the site. A gigantic corten-steel sculpture erected in the middle of meadow giving out sensation of a post-apocalypstic where the industrial era has over and that's what it's left and nature starts to surround it. For some, it may be seen just as a garden or a backdrop for instagram's outfit-of-the-day but to me, it is a spatial installation art that goes beyond time and space.
The meadow will change its colour through seasons, that's why I can call the "go through beyond time and space". It is very relaxing too to just sit there in the bench, or in designated seating that the gallery provides. They provides also a bar for visitor to have their lunch,un caffe, or even an aperitivo. Then again, this part of the space will let you relax your body and soul, before or after satisfying your eyes, the left brain, and your intuitions.
Thus, the ground composed by a marvelous garden, a bar, bookshop, children area, and exhibition spaces. If you are in to contemporary arts, this place should be on top of your list, yet you can just enjoy the surrounding of this place, sipping your afternoon coffee or even enjoying your spritz and wine.
The current temporal exhibition as for 2017 to early 2018 that you can visit are Lucio Fontana'sAmibienti/Environment, a lighting installation that will bring you to the surreal world, and a group exhibition curated by Christian Boltanski, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Chiara parisi, and Roberta Tenconi calledTake Me I'm Yours. All exhibition is free of charge unless there is further notice, then it's a good place to go in yourtempo libero.
