Peace in the heart of the city
Arco Della Pace is in Piazza Sempione in Milano. In my first evening in Milano, I saw Arco Della Pace. We went to a place there with my friends for aperitivo. The place is called Duomo dal 1952. That place serves an open buffet aperitivo for 10 euros. All the tastes are good, and also the coctails. Moreover the view is great as it directly faces to Arco Della Pace.
Arco Della Pace means "The Arch of Peace" by reminding the European peace. It is a triumphal arch in the pedestrianized Parco Sempione where I love to spend time, walking and feeding the ducks. Every time I went there I tried to stop myself from taking photos because I spend a lot of time there. There is a lake surrounded by colorful trees and the ducks are swimming. At the same time you hear a good street band music. It takes you to different times. Also other people come to this park to enjoy the sun, read books or exercise. The arch is at the end of the park. It is a huge magnificent arch that is designd by Luigi Cagnola, an Italian architect, and built in 19th century. It is said that the four big statues on the arch are representing the rivers flowing through the Lombardia region.
In this Parco Sempione there is Castello Sforzesco. Various architects including Leonardo da Vinci are involed the designing of the castle. The towers, courtyard and the museums are must seen places. For museums you should pay entrance fee but the insider part of the castle is free of charge.
La Triennale di Milano is also in this park. We went to Triennale with my art class and instructor so I dont know the entrance procedure but you can check on the website. There are very impressive exhibitions and a library in there.
Enjoy Milano!
Love.
