Bella Dama Cafe
Where are we going today?
Today I am going to take you to a café/restaurant called La Bella Dama, in Granada, where I have tried the best hot chocolates in all of Granada and although it is a thematic place inside, it is very pretty.
So... where do I have to go to have a good time?
La Bella Dama is found on the left, at a corner as you go down calle Sol, and is parallel to Pedro Antonio. If you know the bar Pub Mezquita 14, you won't get lost because it is right across the street.
You can walk if you are in or live in the center or you can also get there by car, although during the week there is a blue zone in the car park and in the whole area of Pedro Antonio and adjacent streets.
Is there an easier way to get there (if is there one or not... )?
There is no easier way than walking, because of parking issues (Something I have always referred to because it is important to keep in mind), and because of the shortcuts and central location of this cafe, we won't have any problems walking there, like you would if you drive.
Possible transport alternatives.
I always go there by bus which is an ideal option for those who have to travel from a little further away to this area and you will not have many problems, getting back since if you go for a snack or a coffee you would normally arrange it for the afternoon and so you won't have problems with the bus timetable to get home.
Location and timetables.
It is located near the street where most pubs are in Granada, centrally, being Pedro Antonio de Alarcón street.
The opening hours of the cafe are on a poster but they are also a restaurant, they do not close until late at night.
What environment can we find at this place and what tastes does it suit?
What I've seen the most every time I've gone are groups of friends, who are there to chat and catch up while having a snack. I have also found people who go alone for the simple fact of enjoying the quality of the site, without the need for company, looking for some relaxation and disconnection. What has surprised me the is that you don't see families with children, although it doesn't really invite them, but it is a central location, famous, known and very relaxed... something ideal for this type of environment.
It really is for all kinds of tastes because on menu there are several types of foods, both salty and sweet, as well as drinks, smoothies, coffees and cocktails, which have a wide variety to choose from, for those who have a distinct taste and can not find what they are looking for.
What's this place like?
The decor is a little medieval or vintage, with armchairs and tapestries on the walls. A frame is part of the decoration, which has several engravings and asymmetrical motifs and in reddish tones, giving warmth to the place.
There are tables around everything, around the bar, near the windows and you cannot sit at the bar for a drink because there are no stools and I think it is the only area that the waiters focus on because it is full of bars which also block off the area.
What are its main characteristics and what kind of activities or services does it offer?
Its main characteristic is its theme and its variety in terms of milkshakes, frappes, chocolates and flavours...
It also offers different types of cheese and meat or chocolate fondues and with different things to accompany them. That is what I like about there because you won't find fondue in any restaurant or cafes that you go to (not to say any) and least of all, for a price of approximately eight euros for two people.
Assuming that the fondue is served as a dinner, it offers a wide service of restoration, broadening the horizons of what a normal cafe offers, to something that is not very usual to see. So you would have to come to this place to have them, which is an important point of attraction for customers.
It also offers sweet crepes and salads, waffles and other drink options, to have as a milkshake or not, and with or without alcohol.
What's the quality of this service or activity?
When I have been there, I have tried different things and everything was amazing, well presented and prepared with flavours that you will not find in any other place.
There are also plenty of drinks, and if you have any doubts, the charming waiter can give you some recommendations according to your tastes, they are always attentive and fast.
How did you find out about this place?
As I go out a lot through Pedro Antonio, one day I passed by that street and this cafe on the corner caught my attention because of the good look it had, so I went in to give it a try. The first thing I tried was a chocolate crepe and a hot chocolate with hazelnut liqueur and it was so good, that I wanted to come back again just so I could try other things on the menu.
What plan would you recommend to have when visiting this place?
After an afternoon of shopping, you can have a good snack that will leave you happy for the rest of the day, and the week! If you come here before going out to eat, you will not come hungry and be looking forward to it. The same applies if you are thinking about going for dinner afterwards, unless you have already had a good time because of all of the delicious things that la Bella Dama offers.
How much does this activity cost? What do I need to keep in mind?
Well it has quite reasonable prices. A milkshake with ice cream costs €2. 50 and for €2. 70 you can add cream. So they are also normal, if you want to order a natural milkshake without ice cream, it costs €2. 30 or €2. 50 (depending on if you want cream or not), frappes vary with the same price, fondue for two people varies around €8. 00 (a very good price) and the crepes, waffles and pancakes are around €3. 00. So it is not a place where you have to tighten your belt before you can go, but it offers a very good quality at affordable prices.
My personal opinion
I would give this place, an outstanding 9/10, because the first time I went, the flavors were much more intense, but in my recent visit I was disappointed with the chocolate frappe because it did not have the same intense chocolate flavor as other times and my friend was also disappointed with his milkshake because it wasn't fresh. Although perhaps we caught them on a bad day, and they needed to reinstate to be able to offer the quality that we are used to.
To conclude...
It's one of the best snack places I know, like crepe restaurant or something. So I encourage you to visit it, because even though there are definitely better places, everything they make is delicious, whether you like the taste of something in particular or not... you will think that everything is done with quality.
