Fuego Troika sky dining
Dining on top of the world
Sky dining is one of the most elegant, voguish and thrilling ways of dining. The name in itself brings in a sort of chicness to the matter of dining. Given we youngsters are always pretty much living on a budget, budget restaurants seem to be our sanctuaries, a place to relax and eat while not worrying about our bank account balance.
But there is something extremely liberating about stop worrying about the bill once in a while, you feel that you only live once, so why not
loosen up with the budget dining a bit. Fuego Troika Bar and Restaurant is exactly one of those experiences and although your bank account could be drained by the end of the night, you will never forget the mesmerising view.
What I mean by mesmerizing view!
Details and descriptions
There are about two seatings, first is from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm, perfect for seeing the sunset and the other one is from 8:30 pm onwards until 11 pm. The exact address is: Level 23a, Tower B, The Troika, 19 Persiaran KLCC, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This place is very nearby Ampang park so you can use the LRT to get to Ampang park and then get a cab from there, which would take about 5 minutes. As usual it is easier to use "Grab" or "Uber".
Our experience started like this; the place is always jam packed so we made a reservation about a week before for two. They called two days before to confirm our reservation and that only added to the anticipation. I could not wait till I got to try the food and enjoy the magnificent view of the twin towers and the rest of Kuala Lumpur. And of course take bomb Instagram pictures with that awesome view.
On the night itself we were running about five to ten minutes late, because well you don’t wanna know how packed the roads get with a little down pour. So we called and asked them to keep our reservation, I suggest you do the same if you’re running late. We reached the place, parked the car and then ran inside the building. Both of us having dressed not too casually, I wouldn’t suggest dressing fancy but don’t dress too casually either. Like no flip flops, please.

We were greeted by a very friendly guard who escorted us to the elevators and pressed the button for us. 23 floors later, we got off and were asked for our reservations by yet another friendly staff sitting behind the desk there which showed us to the restaurant and bar. We had asked for a balcony table, meaning literally the closest to the view, but we were sat down somewhere in the middle of the place, which was not bad at all but it would have been more pleasing if it was closer. The place was sort of low light, but the light from the twin towers was illuminating the place. Everyone was having loud conversations and laughing out loud, there were couples having a romantic candle light dinner.
Fuego at night
We then received the menus and were given brief explanations on the specials. The menu was all kinds of rare; there were things like fried watermelons for starters, which I so wanted to order but I couldn’t risk not liking it and then starving. We ordered drinks first, my friend ordered a whisky and I since I was keeping it alcohol free, I ordered a mocktail. The drinks were served shortly, on coasters; I can bravely say that the drinks were the best part of the night. It tasted all bubbly and happy; it was like the taste of joy. Okay, I know I tend to take it too far once in a while but it’s true, it was really great. The whiskey was good too apparently but my friend was constantly complaining about the small portion; it was really little and overpriced apparently, according to him. He did mention that the quality was good though, so I guess it was worth it.
We then browsed the menu to decide what food to order, which was no easy task at all. Like I mentioned before the food was just plain rare. I ordered Portobello mushroom for the side, which was served with melted feta cheese. We both decided to order the “Chermoula Chicken” which was basically a whole 1. 5 kg chicken, served with a hot diablo sauce. Given I don’t eat spicy food we asked for the sauce on the side. The food took about 30 minutes to be served in that time which we chatted and tried taking some pictures.
The chicken
The much anticipated food was served and we attacked it. I honestly did not think the food wasn't worth the price, it tasted extremely normal and it was not all that savory but the view made everything much better. The chermoula chicken cost about 120 ringgits (RM), which was quite expensive. The portobello mushroom side cost about 20 ringgits, and the drinks cost about 80-90 ringgits, the whole bill plus tax and service was about 300 ringgits, which is not cheap at all. No regrets though.
Our table in a very low quality picture
After finishing the food, we were asked if we want to order anything else since the kitchen closed at 10:30 pm, we honestly could not have desert, the 1. 5 kg chicken filled us up. We asked the kind waiters to take a few pictures of us standing on the balcony and they were kind enough to do so. We really did enjoy the place. While the food was not that great, the drinks and the environment were worth it. Now my advice to you is that if you’re looking for a great place and a great bar, check this place out for sure, you will not regret it, although maybe you could just go for drinks, that’ll save you a lot of money and you aren’t missing out on much.
Hope you guys enjoy this piece.
Cheers!
