It was just like floating on water

Avani is and will always be one of my favorite hotel resorts in all Malaysia. The feeling of being floated on water added to the serenity of tranquility of the place and the great facilities provided. This was an almost five star stay excluding a few minor details which I will get to during the post.

How to get there:

Sepang is a small town located nearby the Kuala Lumpur international airport (KLIA). So if you have just reached Kuala Lumpur and Sepang is your destination it’s much easier to go there from the airport. In my case, I was in Kuala Lumpur, so my family and I decided to book a ride, from the application “Grab” that I mentioned in the previous post. We paid about 120 ringgits (Malaysian currency) for the ride, which was a fair fare. It takes about an hour to get there with a cab or a car.

Description and experience:

As soon as we reached, we were greeted by the very friendly staff which helped us check in. Now I booked us a family suite, which was basically two adjoined rooms with two single beds, one double bed and two separate bathrooms. I used “Groupon Malaysia” for the booking as they were having a huge promotion for this resort and therefore we saved a lot. I would have to say Avani is not a cheap resort, the rooms could cost up to 1000 ringgits per night during high season, but the resort does offer many promotions so I guess it’s much better to plan ahead and check the website regularly for any discounts.

Our room was just magnificent. My favorite area was the balcony; I could just unwind with a good Paulo Coelho book and listen to thesound of waves crashing the shore. Although I gotta admit, there weren’t much waves, the sea was calmer than ever. During the day the sea level was very low so it didn’t feel much like floating but as the night came the water level raised so much and it was paradisiacal.

We got settled in and then went outside to use the swimming pool. The first thing you should do, is take one of the bicycles the resort provides because man the place is really big so it’s just easier and more fun of course.

The swimming pool was very clean and has an eternal view. Like seriously you could just get lost in the view. See the pictures and judge for yourself. And the gym, oh the gym was just fabulous because who wouldn’t wanna run on a treadmill facing the ocean. I suddenly became a sports person there.

I would have to say that the resort is more like a family vacation spot. It is quiet and rather empty. You don’t see that many people at the beach either. Sepang itself is also extremely small so there aren’t many activities you can take part in. Most of the people I met there were families too. During my three day stay I didn’t see any nightlife activities around there, although if you do have a car maybe you can drive around to find a pub or something.

What to eat:

Yes, food, the most important part of every vacation. Remember when I said that this was an almost five star stay? Okay the almost was added there because of the food. Now the resort itself had a grand restaurant, we went for the dinner buffet, as it came with the booking and I was not so in love with the food. The variety was great but I could not put my finger on any food that I personally loved or enjoyed every bit of it. Don’t get me wrong I'm not saying the food was low quality, none of that. It was just that I personally did not love any but hey at the end of the day that’s just my opinion and someone else might really enjoy it. If you don’t want to eat at the resort there are about 2-3 small little beachside mamak (Malaysian traditional restaurants) around so you could go there and eat. We tried a couple of different foods there and they were good, so yes it’s safe to say you will not starve. Don’t worry!

Overall I had an amazing time in this resort!

Hope you guys enjoy this piece.

Cheers
