Lovely Beach in the old part of Cádiz

Published by flag-gb Anonymous . — 12 years ago

In the old part of Cádiz La Caleta is the main beach. It isn't as large as some of the beaches in the new part of Cádiz, but it is lovely all the same. There are sunbeds available to rent for €5 for the day, they come with a parasol. Most spaniards bring their own light weight chairs with little parasols attached, but of course you can always just take a towel. There is a large pavilion in the middle of the beach which provides some shade. The public facilities at the beach are great, there are toilets and showers and a cloakroom facility which were all clean and well maintained. There is a disabled friendly access ramp and platform on the beach so noone has to miss out. There are some public activites held on the beach too, we came across a bingo session last time we were there. The beach could be a little cleaner, there is a fair bit of seaweed along the shore that the waves bring in, but nothing major. The views on the beach are lovely as it is flanked on either side by a fort and a castle, there are lots of small fishing boats anchored in the harbour which is very quaint. La Caleta is a great place to spend a relaxed day and have a dip in the sea.
