Aquamarina Boat Hotel

Eat while you swim

Having some business in Budapest, impossible to solve tasks in a single day, I needed a night and this hotel made me with the naked eye because long ago I wanted to sit on a floating hotel astel.  Initially I was clipped out of the fact that booking.com is specified as not accepting pets and how we are all over the place accompanied by the dog I had a little problem. But I made the reservation through another site-onhotels.com-which was a lot cheaper, and which was not specified nothing regarding this issue. So I tried the sea with his finger and I gave them an email in which I did not know that it is their policy and ... surprise: we accept pets, 10 euros/night. How price per room was quite small (25 EUR/room/night), overall it turned out to be a decent price.

The hotel is located in the northern part of the city, just north, in the area where the Danube enters in Budapest. So I don't recommend if you do not take your own car, but from what I've seen about everyone goes to Budapest by car so I don't think it will be an impediment. As with all of the Center are about 11-12 km away, can be reached fairly quickly, about 15 minutes. The street (actually it is improperly said, because the hotel is on the banks of the Danube, at about 30 m from where the street ends) is called Rozgonyi Piroska Street Port and should be easily identified by any GPS. The car park is right at the end of the street, the historical context, as I was saying, at least 50mi of the Danube. The street is quite wide and Park in the ear on both sides of it.

A pleasant surprise was the arrival, when, although it was barely 13: 00 we were accommodated without problems. The hotel's policy to announce check-in possible until after 14: 00, but they had rooms ready so there were problems. I paid the 3,000 forint for puppy and we were given the key to the room. -Forint to us we didn't so we paid with the card. The hotel was not really asked for, so I got to ask the room with Danube view. From what I've seen on the net, they are recommended by everyone, for being more pleasant than to the shore. However, considering the fact that it rained almost continuously, unable to say that there was something very spectacular, water is very cloudy and gray.

As location, Aquamarina is anchored on the Danube in Budapest, Obuda-N. Access is easy by car, at approx. 10 min from bridge with Chains, Buda, on the ' right ' way of 4 lanes up to the junction with Rozgonyi Piraska Street at the end of which lies anchored the ship-hotel. For those without a car, the hotel offers a free shuttle bus 4 times a day to the center of Budapest, and between May and august and transfer hotel-motor boat Centre (5 euros). Close to 200-300 m it is the bus stop no. 34 which connects to the subway; to Budapest train station is 1 km from the hotel.

Once on the boat, almost forget that you're not actually in a normal hotel. Only the ceiling which is quite little appearances betray their bottom. The room was big enough, greater even than some classical hotels in which I state. Bathroom and it quite spacious with shower. I really liked that I had a wooden wardrobe rather than with hanging space with so I had where we unpack one to another. We didn't have too many because we are going to just one night but it's good to know the future, if we have to stay more nights. There was also a table with a small tv, work desk and lamp next to the bed, nightstands.

Everything was very clean, but unfortunately we see that carpet on the bottom is quite old, so in the living room and hallway. I think I would have changed. What bothered us was loud enough that you can't open the Windows. There are air conditioners but the new has not been the case, because it was pretty cool, I had it set on heating. Summer I've heard that sometimes there are problems with the air-conditioning not cope, but presumably because mosquitoes had taken it as far as it does not open the Windows. But this has a huge disadvantage: the air inside is quite unwieldy, feels like not much movement.

The restaurant is a little strange in the sense that it is closed during the week, is open to tourists only on weekends. And I was on a Tuesday. But the new, when I asked at reception, we were not told this, later I understood why.

So I went to the chititi restaurant to eat something, especially that in the area there were other possibilities too and we have not eaten anything close to that day. To our luck, was staying in the hotel group, something team-building of any company, or any online community, I never figured out exactly.

They had bundled with lunches included, so that the restaurant was open to them. After I waited a bit and I saw the girl who served us not put in consideration, we came to a gentleman who spoke very good English, some believe, the manager explained to us what is the situation with the restaurant closed on weekdays, but told us that the cooks were present for this group, you may tell them to cook something for us.

I wondered what they are cooking for the group, thinking that it may have already prepared food and it will take less, and indeed it was. I gave the command to bring what they had and they, I mean the way 1-cream of mushroom soup (only one, his wife did not want), Viennese schnitzel 2-way with rice pilaf, and dessert, which is a strange thing that we never ate so far, but very tasty-a sort of Apple Pie but with a lot of cream, vanilla and cinnamon flavor and an orange slice.

I never got and about 2 beers and two sodas. The prices were quite normal for Budapest, maybe even a little bit high considering that we come out of the tourist area of the city. But I was on a boat rated 4 stars (at least officially) so were somewhat justified. I found a small menu and browse it. For example, a beer-550 BGN (about EUR 1.80), about 2100 HUF main course (7 EUR) a soup kinda 600 HUF (2 EUR), and all so and a dessert.

I still had some assorted pickles that his wife says she liked for that have been dulcege. Well, I liked. A quick calculation I should have we used around 8000 HUF (so about 25 EUR), but those there probably as we have calculated everything from the price of the "group" of those who cook, so when we brought the note I had a shock: total 3470 HUF (aprox EUR 11).We have made a detailed note so I don't know how they did the calculations. Not to say that the restaurant could pay only with cash, and how we didn't have, the folks over there have again been very understanding and have sent us to the reception where I could to pay by card.

Perhaps this is the owner, and when he told us that we can and we used at the restaurant with the card, otherwise no I have gone without cash. In a Word, personal note 10. But if you go on there, and I think it would have to rely on the menu prices, prices that appear on their website, which is here.

Little Dej is decent, basically are all starting from cold cuts (some kinds), jams, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, butter, milk, cereals, yogurts, etc, but I stress a very big plus: the juices are Let's say natural, but not of superior quality. I even saw how it replenishes carafe on the bar with the juice box that read 100% fruit. And that's not all, a captain is a juicer apart which is a tray with orange cut in half, so you can prepare yourself a fresh orange juice in 2 minutes. Gave me back this aspect, hats. Of course, breakfast was included in the room price.

The area is very quiet, and although now because of the rain and cold weather doesn't look promising, I think summer is downright spectacular. In the evening when we came out with the puppy to walk along the Bank of the Danube, I noticed that along the cliff are plenty of terraces, which of course were closed now, but summer heat probably is very pleasant to drink something in the shade on the Bank of the Danube, with water flowing down there, on the one hand and other vegetation.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience, which gave us a few hours of total disconnection from everyday worries and we think that after coming to repeat the experience in a weekend, so check in with us at the hotel, but above all for the sake of the area. What you want and you!

The only black point which had the hotel during this time is that the air conditioning only works on hot. If you was hot I wanted to somehow handy bus or room (does Windows, but do not open, it is the model) don't really have a solution. Perhaps the warm season, the air conditioner works on cold and offers minimal ventilation.

And I'm surprised to see how hard I liked Budapest on ... Not so good aveam about Hungarians, Hungary and ... But we, with our Capital, we have not really what ... us praise. We should learn from our neighbors. Even as we have dogs in the community how to have CLEAN streets, civilised and relaxed people, how to keep valuable architecture and we have no beggars on the streets ... It would be something ...
