Rómaipart, one of the most special places in Budapest
Hello all!
I lived since 4 years in Budapest, when one friend took me to Rómaipart. I blamed myself, because I’ve never been before there, and I didn’t know what a treasure hides in the 3rd district of Budapest close to my dorm. True, that it’s not so popular between tourists, because it’s at the peripheria of the city. But this fact can be an advantage as well, because while time passed, it remained the same, untouched, wild, exotic and pure place. Rómaipart it’s not about catching as many tourists attention as possible and nor about profit. It’s a place with special character.
Rómaipart is the bank of the Danube, on the route of bus 106 and Suburban Railway H5. From public mean of transportation stations only few minutes walk, the view is composed by the wide and wild Danube, beautiful piers, and pedestrian pathways (no car access), bars and restaurants, kayaking and canoe centre and many more.
The Danube flows towards Budapest from here, consequently the water at this part is close to being crystal-clear. Rómaipart is not the principal branch of the river for big ship traffic, transportation and others, it’s more peaceful, and silent. Just a few little boats, jetskis, or ships pass by, but there’s quiet and calmness. As I said, here the Danube is wild, surrounded by just a few buildings, but mostly nature: trees, little islands, plants and fishes and birds. Rómaipart and the near places are still undiscovered and influenced by humans, and that’s why it’s cool. You can go anywhere in the city by the river, and won’t feel like it feels here. It’s like a different river, a different dimension and a different land.
Perfect path for running, riding the bike or just walk the dog. Romantic couples can sit on piers in the moonlight and let their feet into the water and drink a bottle of wine. I rather think there exists any more intimate moment for lovers. Those who want to find out why Hungary it’s so powerful in water sports like kayaking and canoeing, I recommend to try a lesson and get in the boats on water. Of course there are culinary specialities as well, eating and drinking it’s not a problem. Mostly grilled and fried meat, fishare the tastiest meals, but salads, pizza and traditional Hungarian dishes are served too.
My personal favourite is Fellini Bar. Gravel and sand ‘beach’, a bar incorporated in a caravan, fabulous lemonade and cocktails, and hammocks over the river. Literally. You can lie in a hammock or a deck chair and let Your feet washed by the Danube. Playing board-games with friends was never as special as here. Rómaipart is the most beautiful during twilight, when the sun disappears between the trees, and colourful tiny flashbulbs light up.
