A Perfect Room with your Significant Other

Published by flag-us Aimee Haley — 11 years ago

In June 2011, I attended a conference in Budapest, but before the conference my boyfriend and I decided to make a trip out of it. Neither of us had ever been to Budapest before, so we didn't know quite what to expect in terms of distances between places or where the best place to stay was. Claudia Rooms was a perfect choice for us!

Claudia offered three rooms with a communal kitchen and eating area. Each of the rooms had a private bathroom. The place was incredibly clean and tastefully decorated! Two of the rooms faced the street and one of the rooms opened onto a courtyard.

We chose to stay in the room that opened to the courtyard for a couple of reasons: less street noise and you could open the back door to get a very nice, cool breeze through the room. We stayed during some very hot days and we were coming from the Nordics, so a cool room was key to keeping us happy. The room was very large and simply decorated. There was a TV but we never turned it on. Free Wifi was also available. The bathroom was also really big and very nice and clean.

The kitchen was fully furnished and all appliances were there or available upon request. Claudia even provides laundry service without a charge. While we were out taking in the sights one day, she took our laundry, washed it, dried it, and had it nicely folded in our room by the time we got back. This was something I was not expecting and, in my opinion, is above what is required for a bed and breakfast! The communal areas were also very clean and the appliances appeared in good condition.

Location

On a map it might look like it's far away from most of the main attractions, but don't let that fool you. The great synagogue is right at the end of the street. Even though it took us 8-10 minutes to take our luggage from the metro station to the guesthouse, we still appreciated greatly to be so close to the only station in the city that allowed access to all metro lines in the system. There is also another station close by (5-6 minutes away). These two stations are furthermore main stops in the tram system, so you can rightly say that all public transport is only a 5 minute walk away. You could also walk downtown to the city center in less than 15 minutes.

Given its location, there were many restaurant options nearby, including a terrific kebab place (sit-down and to-go orders) that we visited a few times during our holiday.

Service

Claudia's service was phenominal. She went above and beyond. She answered all of our questions ( and we had several) and pointed us to decent restaurants for us to try during our stay.

This was by far the best vacation my boyfriend and I have taken together. We were both students at the time and didn't want to spend a lot of money, but if we ever return to Budapest we would certainly stay at Claudia Rooms over a large chain hotel.
