My visit to Madame Tussaud's
I visited Amsterdam Madame Tussaud's in November 2014. It was a lovely noon. We paid something like 20 or 25 euros per ticket and went in. They even take a picture of you in the entrance with a cool background and at the end of your journey you should decide whether or not you want to pay for that picture so that they can print it out for you.
So, the very first thing we saw was people from historical ages, such as Peter Stuyvesant _ the last Dutch Director-General of the colony of New Netherland in the seventeenth century, then we moved on to royals, film, DJs, world leaders, music, art, sport... each section is very well organised and decorated.
Historical figures from a few years ago
There was also Second World War section where we saw Sir Winston Churchill _ the great Prime Minister, orator and also known for a name "Iron Curtain", Lenin _ the father of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev _ the eighth and last leader of the Soviet Union, Anne Frank _ this little girl whose diaries became very popular after his father published them, Queen Wilhelmina _ Queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and people outside Netherlands remembers her for her role in the Second World War.
The Royals
After the World War II, you meet the royals. You can have your picture taken with Princess Beatrix _ mother of the king of the Netherlands; Queen Máxima, who is the wife of King Willem-Alexander and the first Dutch queen consort since 1890. You can also grab a chance to take a seat on King Willem Alexander's throne. You can even dress up as a member of the Royal family: take the crown, try on different kinds of hats and coats.
Movie industry
Then we moved on to the movie stars. There were Julia Roberts leaning on a chair, George Clooney drinking coffee somewhere in a cafe, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt _ the great couple, Robert Pattinson _ the very famous one among the teenagers, Johnny Depp _ I love him from his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Famous DJs
Then, we could stand next to the world's famous DJs, such as Armin Van Buuren _ dutchman whose fans include king Willem-Alexander and queen Máxima, and Tiësto_ dutchman who is the first and only DJ who provided the music for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games (in Athens).
We also saw Lady Gaga and the story here is that her wax figure was launched at the same time in all nine of the Madame Tussauds locations around the world making it the biggest PR event in Madame Tussauds History!
Famous film characters
Now, who doens't love watching films?! There in Madame Tussaud's you can visit the film area, that is absolutely steeped in that famous Hollywood atmosphere! We saw Hannibal from "Silence of the Lambs", he was in a window box, wearing a blue uniform wearing a mask and there was another one for the visitors. There was also Fiona from "Shrek" in her green dress and her crown.. Daniel Craig as James Bond _ Agent 007, Marilyn Monroe _ one of the goddesses of the silver screen, the famous Charlie Chaplin, E. T. from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 blockbuster movie E. T...
Famous musicians
Who doesn't know Michael Jackson _ the kid from Gary Indiana who became the King of Pop?! You can dress up as Jackson and take a video of yourself dancing like him.
In the music section you find amazing pop, rock, reggae stars. There is Freddie Mercury _ a British singer, songwriter and record producer, the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen, Madonna _ who has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide and is the most successful female recording artist of all time. Robbie Williams _ a member of the British boy band Take That. Adele _ a British singer and songwriter. You can take a picture with Bono _ an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, businessman... the lead vocalist of rock band U2. You can even play on drums with Bob Marley _ a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, musician, and guitarist.
World leaders
You also meet the world leaders: Dalai Lama _ spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and peace-loving monk, Barack Obama _ the 44th President of the United States, his wax figure was launched the day of his inauguration, Angela Merkel _ who has been the Chancellor of Germany since 2005, she is the first female chancellor of Germany, and first political leader of a unified Germany who was a citizen of the former GDR (East Germany), Nelson Mandela _ who was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist, President of South Africa.. He was the country's first black chief executive, Archbishop Desmond Tutu _ a South African social rights activist and retired Anglican bishop, George W. Bush _ the 43rd President of the United States, The Pope John Paul II _ who is recognised as helping to end Communist rule in his native Poland and eventually all of Europe...
Art and culture
In the art and culture section you meet famous people, such as German-born Nobel Prize winner Albert Einstein, whose name has become synonimous with "genius" thanks to his theory of general relativity, which now has been confirmed. Spanish painter, draughtsman and sculptor Pablo Picasso, who transformed the world of art by co-founding the Cubist movement. Vincent Van Gogh _ who is considered as one of the greatest Dutch painters of the 19-th century and people stand in line at the Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum to see his two hundred paintings and five hundred drawings. The great surrealist Salvador Dalí _ perhaps best known for his painting of melting clocks. There is his saying on the wall: "each morning when I awake, I experience again a supreme pleasure _ that of being Salvador Dalí". Rembrandt van Rijn _ a great Dutch painter with 68 self-portraits. You can also see the famous Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo da Vinci _ a painter, sculptor, scientist, inventor, architect, astronomer and poet. You can even stand besides Mona Lisa and be in a painting! A Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan who evolved neoplasticism, which consisted of white ground on which he painted black horizontal lines and primary colours. Hermanus "Herman" Brood _ a Dutch painter and musician from Zwolle whose unique life history has been extensively documented.
Sports
And finally, there is sports section, where you can find famous sportsmen. There is Rafael Nadal and did you know he is right-handed but he holds a tennis racket with his left hand? You can meet Ronaldinho _ This player is known for his incredible ball controll and accordin to experts, he is one of the best in the world and, maybe, even the very best!
