Fernsehturm Berlin

Fernsehturm Berlin is one of the top 5 tallest structures of Europe. With a total height of 365 metres, this structure is one of the icons of Paris, the other being the Brandenburg Gate and possibly also the Berlin Cathedral. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions of Berlin with around a million visitors each year. The top of the tower facilitates an amazing view of the city. The skyline and silhouette of the city are incomplete without Fernsehturm Berlin.

Brief History

Fernsehturm Berlin, also commonly known as the Berlin TV Tower, is a modern/contemporary structure. It was built in 1969. The tower was created in the center of Berlin. Similar to the mideval Ile de la cite, Berlin had a historic mideval center at the site. However, a huge portion of it was destoyed during the construction of the Fernsehturm Berlin.

Location and how to reach

The tower is located in central Berlin as discussed above. The region is known as Mitte- which has a number of other iconic sites including the previously mentioned iconic Brandenburg Gate and the Berlin Cathedral. The "Checkpoint Charlie" is also in this region.

Berlin Alexanderplatz Bahnhof is the station at walking distance to the tower in order to reach via S-Bahn. On the other hand, for reaching via U-Bahn, Alexanderplatz would be the destination stop. For S-bahn, the lines S5, S7 and S75 are available and for reaching via the U-bahn, line U2 is available. There are also several routes by bus in order to reach the tower.
