Hey, you all! Looking for a place to eat and enjoy your evening?
The 1516 Brewing Company is one of the most awesome restaurants in Vienna and also a must on your restaurant visit - list when you get here. The atmosphere is vivid, energetic - not the tiring type of energetic but more like uplifting your spirits type – and the staff is very friendly and understanding, always ready to help you with whatever you need, which I think counts a lot. Oh and let's not forget their humourous side as well...
But to get to the most important aspect (and probably why you are reading this): the food and drinks.
Food
Each of us had ribs, chicken wings and burgers with fries. The ribs to be honest were not the best I have had but they are still above the average, with an amazing sauce that just explodes in a combination of deliciousness in your mouth. If you are really picky with your food, the sauces are your savior. The chicken wings however were truly good along with a special sauce that I couldn’t really get what it was but I’ll make a quick guess here and say: garlic, cheese, sour cream and whatever else that tied it together in its flavory texture. The burger also was quite good.
The best thing about the food overall was the Godly trio of restaurants: quality – quantity – price. The portions were big, we were three people and we had to help each other out while also having leftovers (the fries were sacrificed), however with the drinks and everything we had, it was around 20 euros per person which is quite the deal in Vienna (and those that are here really know what I mean).
Drinks
Which leads us to drinks! I can only talk about beer, because that’s all I had there up till now, but only praise follows. They have good beer which is to be expected in Austria, but if you go to the restaurant, go for their seasonal craft beers.
My favorite is the Azacca red ale but be careful because it is pretty sought and they might run out of it quite fast. So I advise you to get that first before trying anything else. There are also other interesting combinations but I am not going to ruin your own unique experience by telling you everything.
When to visit
As I have found out, the best time to visit is in the weekdays as it is less crowded and possibly at around 6 or 7 (or earlier if possible) as it can get quite crowded. They usually close at 2 AM so it is one of the few places in Vienna that you find open late at night.
All in all, It’s a great place to have fun with your friends, have good food and quench your thirst with a good cold beer (or more… obviously more). Nonetheless if you sit inside or on their terrace you are sure to find your place.
Enjoy and maybe see you there!
