Wien leuchtet 2015

I discovered this event totally accidentally at the end of October when I went once out on the bike and decided to use the tram to get home. Luckily, I stopped when I saw lots of crowds at the Square of Maria Theresien and was curious to see what it was all about.

And I found there a light projection show and festival and was glad I did not go straight home! It was the last of 2-3 days of the show. I went to the centre of the square and walked around the monuments. I still had practically no people there I knew so no one invited me to this and also I was not able to invite anyone except for myself here even if I knew for the event.

The point of whole event was that the artwork was being projected on the buildings by using light only.

Both museums at the square had different projections at the same time so I was walking here and there, turning around etc. every minute or two. The projection would stay on the facade for about a minute or less before changing to another one.

The Art History Museum also had a video on it by using only typography and explaining the point of the festival and this special exhibition. I tried to take as many photos as I could before the motives started repeating.

The artwork there was pretty impressive and was a mixture of several styles including the modern trends with geometry, doodles, flowers and a bit of abstract illustration.

The festival was also promoting the message of tolerance and love.

The entrance was free.
