Although you can only see the exterior of the building, and the part, called the Visitor Centre, the Wien Parliament is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful and majestic buildings in the whole Wien. You can see the Visitor Centre for free, you just need to have a valid document with you. However, if you would like a guided tour through the building, you have to pay a small fee.
The exterior of the Parliament is build like the Pantheon, with massive greek pillars supporting it. So why greek pillars? The tour guide told us, that Greece is known as a beginner of democracy, and therefore they put greek pillars there when constructing the parliament. As an addition to that, there is a monument of Athena right in front of the building, which is the greek goddess of justice and law, and there is a fountain below the statue.
If you have a chance, take a walk by the Parliament in the evening. The building is lit up nicely, and so are other important buildings in the area.
The Wien Parliament is situated close to the city centre of Wien, and therefore all the other points of interest. You can either walk there from anywhere in the city centre, or take the underground (U-bahn), either the U2 or U3 line, and get off at the station Volkstheater. Another nearby station is Rathaus on the U2 line.
