Amazing must-see view of Malaga

Published by flag-gb aimee pye — 4 years ago

Once at the top of castillo de Gibralfaro, it is a wonderful place to take in the true beauty of Malaga and it's coastline. The view shows all of Malaga's beautiful historic buildings and the more modern area, the port. I recommend swapping sandals for a good pair of walking shoes for the walk up to the top, as it can be a little steep at times, but the climb is most definitely World it once you see the view.

It is a nice place to spend a few hours of the day with friends but can also be quite a popular spot for couples at night time.

There is a café available at the top but I recommend taking your own food and drink as I found it to be a little over priced.

The most beautiful thing is going up to the castle, better at dusk, and seeing how the city gets lit with its lights, the sun setting and the sea shining. The castle is very nice to see, but it has been the views what I have loved the most. You can see almost all the city, the town hall with its gardens, the bullring and the ring, Plaza de los Torrijos, the cathedral, etc. I highly recommend to all those in Málaga to go and see this spectacle.

After making an effort...

First visit

When I was for the first time in the Castle of Gibralfaro I decided to go up to the summit on foot. I was totally breathless, but finally my efforts were rewarded by its views to the sea and to Málaga. Unforgettable! From there you can see everything: the sea, the bullring, the cathedral, the stadium, and all the city. I liked so much the view to the port because you can actually see its size and extension.

It is also a perfect place to rest (yes, after the ascent... :D), to take a book, to forget everything or to contemplate nature.

Second visit

I took the bus. I didn't feel like going up to the summit with that Andalusian temperature, what I recommend in high season and to people with health problems.
