Plaza de España

One of the places you must go to

There are many places in Sevilla you must visit. Plaza de España may be the most impressive one. It probably is the most visited place by tourists in Sevilla. The building itself is used by the government. One interesting thing to know is the fact that shooting of a Star Wars scene was filmed here.

The Place To Be!

My day in Seville had already started well; it was sunny and I was spending time with friends, but then, we somehow managed to stumble across an incredible surprise, and with our own eyes we discovered the Plaza de Españas!

The Place To Be!

To say the Plaza is superb, is an understatement. The palace is beautiful, I literally fell in love!

The Place To Be!

I'll start with the crescent large water feature, which adds even more beauty to the building. Don't be afraid to look closely into the water, as there's plenty of red fish!

The Place To Be!

The mostly blue, white and yellow ceramics dominate constructions such as the bridges and benches which surround the palace.

The Place To Be!

It's a huge lake! Many tourists are often tempted by a boat ride, which when there's 500 metres of water, you have to do it!

The Place To Be!

The four bridges that connect the square to the palace are breathtaking! A little culture is always good, and it's good to note that the bridges symbolise the different kingdoms of Spain.

The Place To Be!

The whole place and all the architecture on the site, whose semi circular form reflects Spain's history and geographical location, is considered one of the most spectacular sites in the Iberian Peninsula.

The Place To Be!

The palace is simply beautiful! The Mudéjar architecture blends in beautifully with the other styles, it really is an impressive building!

The Place To Be!

The palace galleries are full of mosaics, all more beautiful than the other. And if you visit on a really hot day, the vaults are an ideal spot to cool yourself down!

The Place To Be!

In short, I only have one word to say... Woah!

The Nicest Place in the World

The Nicest Place in the World

Plaza de España is by far the place I love most in the world!

The Nicest Place in the World

When you enter, you don't immediately notice it's immense size, but once you're inside you need a few seconds to grasp it. It's shaped like a hug, a hug from Spain towards its ex-colonies in the Americas. There's a small river in the plaza and some bridges that remind you of Venice. The plaza also features every province in Spain on Andalusian-style ceramics, known as azulejos, each one with a scenic photo of the province's key city. The plaza is found in the middle of the Maria Luisa Park. The plaza is a blaze of yellow and blue, and walking through it puts you back at peace with the world!

Plaza de España, Seville

Plaza de España, Seville

This is an important tourist destination in Seville, Spain which has been famous for its architecture and the history. My origin is from a south Asian country. So, I am familiar with ancient architectural designs and palace which have been built in king’s era. But this was the first time I saw a place with Art Deco and "mock Mudejar", and Neo-Mudéjar styles. Art Deco were very colourful and elegant which are different fronm the ancient asian style. This was an old plaza which was built in 1928 in in the Parque de María Luisa for Ibero-American Exposition.

Plaza de España, Seville

Plaza de España has built by representing all four ancient kingdoms of Spain by Aníbal González and decorating the walls by tiling alcoves, which each of them are representing a different province of Spain. The main building has been built in a half cycle shape and including numerous bridges to enter the place.

We can see several ponds and water fountains in the place but among them, the Vicente Traver fountain which has been situated in the centre, has taken the main attraction of the tourist. We can see boat riding in the huge ponds of this place and horse carriage for the tourists.

Plaza de España, Seville

I loved to walk by myself to these places rather than using horse carriage since it was the best method to visit this place and walk in the building as we want. It is bit hard to walk all the way to these place but if we have two three days to visit Seville then without getting tired you can enjoy the city. The special thing is we do not have to pay for tickets to enter to these places. I would like to recommend this place to visit if you go to Seville because of the beauty of it.
