Metropol Parasol
I have just came back from Metropol Parasol located in Sevilla. This one is an interesting place for you if you drop by Sevilla by any chance. This place is said to be the largest wooden place all over the world which was designed by a German in 2011.
The construction is located in La Encarnación square which is fairly close to the main shopping street in Sevilla. It is so easy to get there and as it is so giant, you would hardly miss it.
Entrance ticket
I was there yesterday (June 2015) and the entrance ticket cost me 3 EUR, but you get a free drink and a postcard from the souvenir shop inside. Therefore, it is extremely cheap.
It is just a short trip
To be honest, when you go up to the top, you would see the whole view of Sevilla and its main large buildings, but that is not very impressive, though. I was just surprised because the construction is claimed to be made of wood, but it does not look like wood at all.
There are stairs and small roads inside the design for you to follow. There are also explanation boards which note down some main buildings of Sevilla which you can see from this.
For those who wonder how Metropol Parasol actually looks from outside, here it is the simulation:
For me it is actually resemble to mushrooms, that’s why it is also called Las Setas (“mushrooms” in Spanish).
You can get the free drink from a small bar next the Las Setas. That day, I ordered a Tinto de Verano (my favorite in Sevilla) to cool down the summer heat.
General review
This place it is not definitely my favorite place in Sevilla but if you want to have fun with friends, taking some photos, seeing Sevilla’s view, having a nice drink and a free postcard – all for 3 EUR, so why not? Just don’t go there at noon – 5 or 6 pm in the summer, if you do not want to be melted under Sevilla heat.
