Are you going to study in Bydgoszcz but you feel worried about finding a place to live? Do you want to know if we have any student dorms available? And how much you should expect to spend on rent? Take a look at our top tips we have prepared for you and check the offers we have on Erasmusu, you'll surely find the ideal place for you!
Student dorms
It’s highly possible that your university in Bydgoszcz will offer you a place in a student dorm. This may be the best solution for you, because it’s cheap (starting from around 70 EUR a month, usually up to 100 EUR) and you will live with other Erasmus and local students. You will make friends very quickly over here and you will be informed about all the details necessary throughout your application process.
Location of the biggest dorms in Bydgoszcz:
- UKW: Łomżyńska Street (“Romek” and “Atomek”)
- UTP: Fordon - Kaliskiego Street (“F1” and “F2”)Błonie - Koszarowa Street (“B1” and “B2”)
- Collegium Medicum UMK: Bartłomieja z Bydgoszczy Street (“DS1”); Jagiellońska Street (“DS2”); Powstańców Wielkopolskich Street (“DS3”) - very modern accommodation with what are basically, “independent” flats to rent. At the same time though, they are more expensive than other places, with rooms for 150 or 200 EUR.
As there are a lot of students in the city, there are a lot of rooms for rent or flats available. You definitely shouldn’t have any major problems with finding accommodation.
Best Areas to live within the city
Everything depends on where are you going to study - if it’s UTP and the Fordon campus, then Fordon would be the best for you (unless you don’t mind commuting every day at least 30-40 minutes from the centre). For UKW main campus at Chodkiewicza Street, Leśne, Bielawy, Bartodzieje or Śródmieście would be the best. Yet if you are one of those people who love the city life and cannot imagine living outside of the city centre, then Śródmieście is a good option for you.
Anyway, check the Neighborhoods Section and choose the one that best suites your needs!
