Bydgoszcz is located in the northern area of Poland, but if you look on a map, you’ll notice that it’s also quite central, which makes it a good starting point for trips within the country. Arriving in Bydgoszcz from a foreign country usually means flying by plane, however, if you live in a neighbouring country and the distance is not too far it will be easier to travel by bus, train or car.

Airport in Bydgoszcz

The airport in Bydgoszcz is located 3 km from the city center and it offers Ryanair and Lufthansa connections. The number 80 bus connects the airport with the city centre, the main bus station and the train station. Usually it goes twice per hour, from 4 a. m. until 11 p. m. You can buy the ticket directly from the driver or at the kiosk by the terminal. If you are student, you should ask for “bilet ulgowy” - reduced ticket, which costs 1,50 PLN. Bydgoszcz Airport is a small airport, which offers mostly flights to Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Other airports near Bydgoszcz: Poznań, Gdańsk, Warsaw

In many cases it may be easier to get to other airports in Poland, which are close by to Bydgoszcz. Such as Poznań (the closest one), Gdańsk and Warsaw (Chopin Airport or Modlin Airport). All of these cities are well connected to Bydgoszcz by train or by the Polski bus company.

How to get to Bydgoszcz from Poznań Airport

Poznań Airport (Ławica) is located around 7 km west of the city center. It’s really easy to get to the centre, as there is a bus line (number 59), which goes directly to the Train Station (Poznań Główny) which only takes around 30 minutes (13 stops). You will find the bus stop exactly in front of the departure hall (Terminal 2). You can buy the tickets from kiosks at the terminal or from the vending machine at the bus stop.

At the Train Station, you can easily change for a train or for a bus (there is a Main Bus Station at the ground level of the building). It takes approximately 1,5 hours from Poznan to reach Bydgoszcz by train, and train is the best option (the cheapest and the fastest).

How to get to Bydgoszcz from Gdańsk Airport

If you land in Gdańsk and you want to go to Bydgoszcz, you should go first to the Gdańsk Main Train Station (Gdańsk Główny). In order to do so, you can take a bus or a regional train SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska). If it comes to the buses, there is an express line 210 or a night line N3, however if you want to take a train, it goes to Gdańsk Main Train Station every 30 minutes. You can buy tickets at the ticket machine located on the east side of T2 terminal.

When you reach Gdańsk Main Train Station, you can easily change and board a train, which will take you directly to Bydgoszcz in approximately 1.5 hours.

Another option is the GDN Express bus going directly from the airport to Bydgoszcz. The bus times are coordinated with airport air traffic. It takes 2 hours and 10 minutes to get to Bydgoszcz (Bus Station) and prices start at 9 PLN. You should buy the tickets online. Click here for more details (only Polish).

How to get to Bydgoszcz from Warsaw Chopin Airport

Chopin Airport is the main airport of Warsaw, located 8 km south from the center. There is a city bus line (number 175) and the night bus N32, connecting the airport with the Warsaw Central Railway Station (in Polish: Warszawa Centralna). There is also a train connection to the city centre.

The motorway network in Poland is still under construction, but the country has seen significant improvements in this matter recently, and the roads are getting better and better each year.
