Absolutely delicious food and excellent service: highly recommendable

One of the things that is compulsory to do during a stay in Querétaro is to go to Monosabio. Although it's not one of the cheapest restaurants in the world, the food is definitely of a very good quality.

How do you get to the restaurant?

The restaurant is close to Plaza Galerías, by the Jardines de la Hacienda. Any taxi driver you call would know how to get there, as it is located in a relatively small city. It's not recommendable to travel there on public transport, as the system in Querétaro isn't the best, thus making the option of travelling by taxi much more recommendable. Although the restaurant is far from the city centre, it won't take any more than 15 minutes to get there and the taxi will cost a maximum of $70 Mexican pesos (roughly $3. 50). If you are travelling by car, it's worth you knowing that the restaurant has a valet parking service.

How much does it cost to eat there?

The food is not cheap, as the produce that they use is bought from local Queretano suppliers in order to promote the consumption of domestic goods. Based on the visits that I have made there, the average bill price for 2 people is $500 Mexican pesos (which is around $25) with the tip included. For this price, we enjoyed a starter, a very filling main course each, and drinks, of which one was a handcrafted beer.

Menu

The menu is very comprehensive. The restaurant's speciality are their burgers: they offer ten different varieties, all of which are very tasty and have really original recipes. The burgers can be served with different types of French fries or with vegetables, and can realistically be made to as calorific or as healthy as you want them to be.

They also sell salads, several varieties of commercially-sold and handcrafted beer, as well as five different, yet all extremely delicious, desserts. I would strongly suggest that you try the whole menu, not just the burgers.

In terms of the drinks menu, you can enjoy handcrafted beers, in addition to several other types of alcoholic beverages served here at Monosabio. If you don't like or fancy alcohol, you can order the traditional lemonade or orangeade, a soft drink, or an infusion.

The restaurant's decor

One of the best things about the restaurant is its decor. In the entranceway, you will find an ornament with old cassette tapes. The building itself has a high ceiling and fans, so it's very fresh and well-ventilated.

The rear part of the restaurant has a terrace. The wall is made of brick, but it is decorated in an amazing way; it's ad hoc in keeping with the hipster concept of the restaurant.

The restaurant has both tables and chairs, as well as stools at the bar. The service given by the waiting staff is incredible, as they are ready to serve you within around 10 seconds of your arrival. They offer you different sauces, recommend dishes to you, and the speed that they prepare your food will satisfy even the most demanding and voracious of appetites. Leaving them a tip has never been a problem.

What time can I go there at?

The restaurant is open from 1pm (I recommend going at this time because it fills up really quickly) and closes at either 10pm (Sundays), 11pm (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) or 1am (Thursdays to Saturdays). The neighbourhood that Monosabio is situated in is very, very safe, so don't worry about going there later in the evening.

Would I go back there again?

Of course! The place isn't the cheapest to eat at, but, considering the quality of the food, the price you pay is very much worth it. Dining here is a way of getting to try food prepared with ingredients bought from Mexicans by Mexicans. Although the restaurant does not serve wholly Mexican cuisine, the ingredients are cultivated by Queretanos, so they are arguably much tastier. You won't regret going there, and I hope that my experience convinces you to go!
