Description
U:lalá is a coffee shop located in the centre of Querétaro. Its decor is simple, with environmental-style walls and ornaments, as well as wooden tables and chairs. The cafe is open Monday to Sunday, from 10am to midnight. They accept both debit and credit card payments, as well as cash, and they also deliver direct to your door.
How do you get there?
By taxi:
It's very easy to get there by taxi, as the street that U:lalá is situated on is one of the main thoroughfares in the historic city centre and is very well-known. The coffee shop is located just a few blocks away from the Plaza de Armas, a cultural and historic square that would be worth visiting after eating at U:lalá.
By bus:
It's more complicated to get to U:lalá by bus, due to the stops that they make, but there are many buses that do travel to the historic centre of the city.
By car:
If you are travelling by car, you will need to park in a public car park, as the streets are always completely full and car windows are often smashed in an attempt to steal valuables in the city centre.
What type of food do they serve?
U:lalá's speciality is coffee, as they "combine science, art and passion to achieve the best cup of coffee humanly possible". The latter is absolutely true: any coffee that you order at this establishment will certainly not disappoint.
Another of their specialities are pizzas. However, they also sell sandwiches (which are accompanied by a salad) and different types of salad. Vegan options are also available for pizza,
In terms of drinks, they sell different varieties of coffee, be it hot or cold, as well as smoothies, herbal teas, water, and hot and iced teas.
And what are their prices like?
The prices at U:lalá are very reasonable if you compare them with those of other, much more expensive eateries in the city centre (like Maria y su Bici). The average cost of dining there per person, including food, drink and the tip, is in the region of $120-$150 Mexican pesos.
What is the quality of the food like?
The food is very, very good. Although there are some sandwiches that can look "simple" in terms of their ingredients, the combination of them and their quality leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. You will leave there feeling very satisfied from the food that you have eaten. The menu is also very flexible in the sense that you can change or remove something in a particular dish, if there is an ingredient that you either don't like or cannot eat. I think the best thing about the place is their pizza and coffee.
Is there room for improvement?
In the beginning, it seemed like they couldn't find the manager and a "friend", who wasn't a waiter, attended to me but he didn't even know how to take my order. When the manager arrived, everything changed and the service vastly improved; he constantly came over to ask if everything was okay with my food. On the other occasions that I have visited, we have hardly just sat down and the waiter was already there ready to take our order. The food doesn't take at all long to arrive.
Would I go back?
Yes, it has a good atmosphere for going with a group of friends after enjoying some kind of cultural event in the city centre. You will enjoy going there more in the evening.
