Brasseur in Strasbourg

This typical French brasserie is located in the centre of Strasbourg, very close to the cathedral and to the canal surrounding the city centre. It's on a corner and the awning is maroon. You can't miss it.

It was the first restaurant I went to in Strasbourg and I highly recommend it; as much for the great value for money of the food, as for the 'happy hour' menu which is made up of beer and tart flambées (a typical Alsatian dish which resembles a thin crust pizza with it's basic ingredients including cheese, bacon, onion and a sauce).

They make their own beer in a facility inside the facility, especially designed for it and it is very good.

"Happy Flam's" (tart flambée happy hour) is every day from 5PM until 6PM and only costs 3€ (they usually cost a minimum of 7€). Besides, don't think that they lower the quality as they are great. The only thing is, is that it's not lunch or dinner time but it isn't bad to know. 'Happy Beer' is also every day but from 5PM until 7PM, from 10. 30PM until 11. 30PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 10PM until 11PM on Sundays. This place has become very famous amongst the Erasmus, mostly because of the happy hour as you normally meet young people there.

The strong orange coloured beer you can see in the following photo is called 'Monaco' and it is very good. It is a spiced beer. To me it tastes a little of cinnamon and it is similar to the mulled wine they serve at Christmas but beer and cold.

You can eat out on the terrace that it has. It isn't very big but it is comfortable even if the views aren't much to see. Inside, the interior design is rather characteristic and worth taking a look at, as are the facilities which make the craft beer.

The personnel are friendly and the service is average, even if at times during happy hour it takes a while for them to attend to you.

The opening hours are Monday to Sunday from 11AM to 1AM and on Sunday it shuts at midnight (keep in mind that they close the kitchen at 12. 30AM).
