Untranslatable emotions

For all the art lovers out there in Poland, a trip to The National Museum Of Warsaw is in order. Called in polish “Museum Narodowe w Warszawie”, the building that hosts both national paintings /painters and also works from all over the world is situated in the center of the city, near  the ”Rond Charles De Gaulle".

In fact, if you reach the monument of the famous French commander you just turn left and move straight on until you are in front of a huge metal gate, the museum is there. The entrance is free on every Tuesday or so I’ve been told. If you do not know where the "Charles De Gaulle" rond is, you must have heard about the renowned palm tree from Warsaw. You can see it from up far and if you ask on the street where it is, people will point you in the right direction. The palm tree and the “De Gaulle” are looking each other in the "eye", so you won't have a problem in discovering the location of the marvelous cultural institution.

Thoughts prior to real knowledge

At first glance the entire construction is not so impressive, lots of concrete, thus the predominant color on the exterior is grey. You do not get such a warm feeling, but once you start to walk the stairs that lead inside and from there up, up, some more stairs and you finally get to the exposition, your mood swiftly changes.

So much diversity, so much emotion wrapped in the texture of what you see, art, artists and people joined in the same cause, the love for the extraordinary. Every painter has had a muse, an inspiration of some sort that he relied on when he wanted to express his inner “self”.

Inspiration

Most often the source for his “never ending fountain of creation ” was some human element, a person, a man, a woman, a particular face, a certain pair of eyes, a way of walking, a way of smiling and so on. You will get to see all of these influences reflected in the paintings displayed at the “Narodowe Museum”. There are many chambers through which you can wander and, of course every room has a certain theme. So, there are rooms that show only portraits, magnificent textures and colors are used to depict the complexity of the human nature.

What you will probably notice is the “truthfulness” of the character presented. Specials techniques were utilized in order to make such a detailed canvas. You can see how the author played with the chromatics and with the layers, always employing more than one layer of dye.

“Nature is the man’s best friend”, or so they say, that’s why various artists have chosen to express the outstanding beauty and magic of places that can’t talk, but that can tell secret stories, if you just know where to look and how to interpret the messages. A big number of paintings show nature at its peak, gorgeous sunsets, crazy moon lights and shades, even the wind was capture for an instance.

Unique works

As if the hand of the author was guided by a higher power, all paintings bring to surface a certain mystery, one that you can percept, but not fully comprehend. That’s the thing that makes you forget that you have to leave the museum:)). Actually, you can spend a lot of time here, if you chose to look closely to every canvas. What didn’t I say?  Well, I didn’t talk about the size of the art works. In the museum, you will see from very tiny paintings and engravings to enormous ones.

One of the paintings is quite special, unfortunately I was pressured by time and did not get its name, but this is for sure the biggest canvas that I’ve ever seen and I am positive that the making of it took several years.  From the picture below you won’t be able to assess its true value and gorgeousness, but we should know it occupies an entire wall :D.

After you are done gazing at the masterpieces, know that downstairs there is a quite large office that sells all kinds of souvenirs, from magnets, small replicas of the paintings to t-shirts and the prices are affordable.  For a closer look, make a visit! For more private details and questions ask at the museum. Have fun!
