Lisbon is a place where you can’t resist trying all the food. You can find so many places, for every taste, from traditional Portuguese cuisine, to more exotic food. Here you can find everything, so don’t worry about the food at all, you will love it, especially because of the price.
In this topic I will refer to different typical restaurants in Lisbon, where you can go to try the traditional food, but also try to look for some near your neighbourhood. Ask for tips to your Portuguese colleagues, you will see that they will stay really excited to know that you want to try something Portuguese. Lisbon can be an expensive place if you don’t know where to look, so pay attention to the prices, and don’t worry because you can find cheap food with a high quality.
It’s really common in Portugal, while you’re in the University, for people to invite you to have dinner, and expect that the dinner will be minimum two or three hours. If you go to one of these dinners you don’t have to pay for the drinks, they are already included in the price, and the entire meal will cost you between 7 or 9 euros, with unlimited drinks.
Also if you prefer to try something different, and not Portuguese, you have a lot of places to choose, from Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, among others.
Gastronomy of Lisbon
The good thing about Lisbon, is that as a capital you can try almost every dish from all the country, from the seafood, the typical fish (with high quality and really fresh) and also the meat dishes.
The most typical thing that you have in Lisbon, and that every tourist is going to try is Pastel de Belém (go to the coffee shop in Belém to try the most typical ones).
Also the new recipe of Fried ball of Codfish with Cheese from Serra da Estrela (to try this go to Rua Augusta to a place called “Casa Portuguesa do Pastel de Bacalhau”, besides the place is always full, it’s a really good and new thing to try.
