Lisbon is a city full of life both during the day or at night, the city has always something for you to do. To go out in Lisbon, you can find so many possibilities, and there is always something for each taste. If you want to drink cheap, you just need to go to the area next to the Universities, there you can always find cheap beer, for example. Besides most of the people consider that Portugal is a cheap country, the most typical Portuguese thing to do is to buy drinks before going to a party, and gather at home for pre-drinks or even at some square with friends.
Tip: Join the parties at the Universities, the music is good and you can always find cheap drinks.
Talking about bars, pubs and clubs, you have a wide range of choices in Lisbon, with different types of music, atmosphere, people, prices and decoration. You can go to an ordinary club with commercial music, a Jazz Club or even a bar with African music. The neighbourhoods that are really famous to go out and with cheap drinks are: Bairro Alto, Arco do Cego (for cheap beer), Santos, Cais do Sodré (this is also the place where everyone goes after the parties, because is where you catch the bus to go home), Red Light District (Rua Rosa) and if you want a more cultural night go to Braço de Prata (you can go by train, there is a station close to the place or with bus).
Now we are going to talk about some bars and clubs in Lisbon, take into consideration that all the places that are indicated represent different styles, so you can choose depending on your preferences.
Bars in Lisbon
Bars in Bairro Alto and Santos, Lisbon
Bairro Alto is the most iconic neighbourhood to go out for a party night, so if you want a typical night in Lisbon, this is the place to go. Take the subway and get off at the stop of Baixa/Chiado and then it’s a 5-minutes walk to the neighbourhood. According to the law, the bars have to close at 2 am., but don’t worry because here the night, sometimes, can only end at 4 am. and then you can go to a club. Here you will find a lot of different bars with prices for all budgets, but you can find really cheap beer.
-
Erasmus Corner; a bar in Bairro Alto, dedicated especially to the Erasmus, so expect to see a lot of international students, this is the meeting point for them. This place is full of life at night, you can meet other Erasmus students and here you can find cheap drinks. For example a beer will cost you 1 euro. Show your ESN Card!.
-
Park Bar; a rooftop that will take your breath away. It’s in Bairro Alto (in the street Calçada do Combro), when you arrive at the place it’s amazing because it doesn’t look special at all, because the bar stays in the last floor of the parking lot. But when you arrive on the last floor, and you start to get into the bar, the view and the environment is amazing. Besides going at night, try also to go during the sunset, it’s really worth it.
-
Bar Meu Eu; this bar is the “second Erasmus Corner” and the tip for this bar is that you can use your ESN card to get some really good discounts on drinks. There is a really good promotion that they make: for just 6 euros you have 18 shots. Located in Bairro Alto, it’s a great place to start the night with your friends and enjoy these amazing discounts.
Santos; this is the place where different Universities are, so you can find a lot of different Universities parties, and also is a place that is full of students. Besides the petiscos that you can eat here, you can also find good bars for you to start the night, with cheap drinks (because it’s a student place) and then you have different clubs nearby, to continue your night. If you want cheap drinks go to Alive Bar, sometimes the bar has discounts, and you can drink a lot for cheap prices.
-
Alive Bar; a great place located in Santos for you to start your night. Considered one of the best places to drink cocktails, mojitos and cheap shots. Some days you can find discounts and drinks are even cheaper.

Besides the drinks and the meals, during the day you can also enjoy its bar where they prepare really good cocktails.
Clubs
If you want to party hard, drink and have a lot of fun, Lisbon is the place for you. One of the best things that the city has to offer is the Lisbon night bus. The bus stop is located in Cais do Sodré, and in every different stop you will find a map with the ways and neighbourhoods where the bus passes through. Don’t forget to have the Lisbon pass with you, or to buy the ticket, because usually during the night you can find the ticket collector and the fine you will have to pay if you don’t have the ticket is really high.
In Lisbon there’s normally free entrance to the pubs on Thursdays, but besides that, in almost all of them you can get in for free until 1 am. Also, try to pay attention to the promotional days or thematic parties, because you can come in for reduced prices or even for free.
There are two days that are really important to go partying in Lisbon: Tuesday is the Erasmus Party day and Thursdays are university days, usually when all Portuguese students go out.
