Need a short-term/long-term place to stay in the heart of Aveiro?

Published by flag-us Aimee Haley — 7 years ago

I lived at Hospedaria Familiar Aveiro for three months during my Erasmus Mundus experience at the University of Aveiro.

Location:

The location is superbly located in the city center. The canal and shopping is located just outside your door step. Rent is a bit on the expensive the side, but if you're looking for convenience, this might be the place for you. The house is located right next to a club that will play music until 2am, so if you're looking to sleep during the weekends, you won't be able to (but who wants to go to bed early in Aveiro anyway? ).

About the Rooms:

There are about 8 bedrooms with single and double beds. Some rooms have private bathrooms and others share with one other person. Most of the rooms are quite large and come fully furnished. Each room has a TV with cable. There are several English channels in case Portuguese is not your native language. The rooms could use a thorough cleaning but nothing you can't do on your own. It can get very cold inside during the winter months, but the owner has space heaters you can ask to borrow. WIFI is also available throughout the house, but some of the rooms on the 2nd floor often have connectivety problems.

About the House:

During the school year, the house is full of Erasmus and Erasmus Mundus students. In the summer, the house is often rented as a guesthouse (thus prices are increased in the summer months). A washing machine is available and clothes lines are available in the back of the house. There is a shared kitchen and sitting area. The kitchen comes with basic kitchen utensils. There is supposedly a housekeeper that comes once a week to clean the common areas, but the kitchen is usually pretty dirty. The house is smoke free, but there is a balcony in the kitchen you can step out onto and some of the bedrooms have balconies. When it storms, the house often loses power and hot water, so you have to re-set some settings outside and in the back of the house.

It's not the worst, but it's not the best. It's worth taking your chances on.
