Mercado Negro

Mercado Negro is a multifunctional space set in an old building right in the city center (since June 2006). With an intense cultural activity (concerts and film sessions every week, exhibits, theatre plays, debates, reading sessions or workshops), you will find inside an auditorium, a café, living rooms (with free wireless internet) and Mao Mao Shop (clothing & accessories).

As a concert venue, Mercado Negro has become an obligatory stop for many of the main portuguese bands, as well as to recognized foreign artists such as Scout Niblett, Kimya Dawson, Josephine Foster, James Blackshaw, Diane Cluck, Jack Rose, Max Tundra, Jonquil, Nancy Elizabeth, David Thomas Broughton, Larkin Grimm, Matt Elliott, Zachary Cale, The Black Swans, The Birthday Suits, TV Buddhas, among others.
