Monlou of Aveiro
Now this is a nice place to have a small snack or drink if you're passing through Aveiro.
When this little café opened, I thought that the queues would be temporary and with time it would become less popular. Well, I was mistaken! Every day this café surprises me, always in a positive way, and it continues to be in the top 5 cafés.
So, Monlou has everything that makes a café successful.
It's run by a young couple who are very kind and creative. They do everything with love and care which is clear in the service, as well as in the products that the places offers, and the decoration.
Monlou has a Facebook page (noted above) which keeps the clients informed of all news, promotions and loving messages.
The space isn't very big but I think that that's part of the charm. The fact that it's not easy to get a table proves that "forbidden fruit is the most desired".
Although it's small, it's very loved.
There is a smoking and non-smoking zone, small and big tables, separated toilets and a beautiful counter for when you're waiting.
One of the best aspects of Monlou is perhaps its decoration; simple but modern, and catches the attention of anyone. On the side opposite to the one in the photo there is a black wall with designs in chalk of coffees and cappuccinos. I didn't take a photo, I'll let you see it for yourself. An incentive to go and visit.
As you can see, there is a television which normally plays atmospheric music, shelves on the walls filled with home-made products (I'll show this later) etc, etc. After, you can confirm everything that I've been saying and even discover more things.
Now, let's get to best part, the menu.
This is only the food menu. Everything is mega delicious! It's always a problem trying to decide! The most popular are the muffins. I didn't take a photo of the shop window but here is a photo of the muffin case.
(The photo of the shelves on the wall that I said I would put up later)
As you can see they look absolutely delicious. My favourite is the one with oats and raspberries: the middle of the bottom row.
It's all good! The toasted sandwiches, the croissants with Nutella, the waffles with ice-cream, the cookies, the brownies, the hamburgers, they also look very good (I've never tried them)...
Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the drinks, nor the menu. But as I can modify this blog I could come back and add some more photos.
There is a big choice of drinks. From large coffees, small coffees, coffee with cream, without cream, cold, hot... Hot chocolates, with marshmallows, without marshmallows, a thousand and one flavours of tea...
Lattes, caramel macchiatos, raspberry macchiatos, chocolate macchiatos, with pintarolas (sweets), almonds, cubes of caramel... Cappuccinos, chococcinos... Coffee Frappés, strawberry, mango, chocolate, caramel frappés...
And you know what? I took photos.
(Coffee frappé)
(Strawberry frappé) Very good!

Regarding prices, they're not bad. But, in my opinion, the quality corresponds to the price. There is a quality/price equilibrium in Monlou. It's worth it for getting rid of the blues, every now and again.
