Trinity Leeds

Trinity Leeds is a huge shopping centre in Leeds City Centre which is home to over 120 shops, over 40 food and drink outlets and even a cocktail bar, The Alchemist! It also has its own dedicated street food kitchen, Trinity Market.

Sounds great, but expensive right? Well you’d be wrong, so don’t be put off by going if you're stuck with a student budget! Just by flashing your student card or using your Unidays ID, you can receive loads of great discounts: 10 percent off in shops like NYX Makeup or Topshop and great discounts at loads of restaurants too, like 25 percent off food at Yo Sushi.

Trinity Leeds is also home to the Everyman Cinema, great if you feel like watching a film on a rainy day with a little luxury.

Vintage clothes shops

Whilst studying in Leeds, it's more than likely you’ll hear the phrase “Edgy Leeds” quite regularly. It refers to the style that a lot of Leeds students seem to prefer, such as wearing sportswear, baggy trousers and having glitter on their faces on a night out.

To cater to this demand, Leeds has a thriving vintage clothing scene, where you can get cool, second-hand pieces for cheap. As well as being fashionable, it is also sustainable rather than supporting fast-fashion brands such as Pretty Little Thing, a very popular online clothes shop in the UK. Here is a selection of a few:

  • Charity shopsare very popular in England, they sell a range of things including clothes for a couple of pounds, and all the money raised goes to charity. It is the perfect way to pick things up for cheap, all though you will have to sift through the junk to find the gems!

  • BEST Vintageis a shop which sells reworked vintage pieces, making them one of a kind and very trendy. However, it is quite expensive. There are a few of these kinds of shops in Leeds.

  • Kilo sales sometimes take place in Church, an events space/club next to the University of Leeds Campus. Here, there will be a huge selection of vintage and second-hand clothing, and instead of individually pricing each piece, they have a set price per kilo of weight.

Briggate High Street

Briggate High Street in Leeds City Centre is where you can find many popular high-street shops outside of the Trinity shopping Centre. The street itself has a history going back to the 13th century and is home to shops such as Topshop, Debenhams and Marks and Spencers.
