Collect your student card

Your student card is a vital piece of documentation for your time in Leeds. It allows you to visit the student gym The Edge, sit your exams, enter the library and even gets you access to some student discounts! It also features your Student ID number, which you will use in e-mail correspondences and for anything university related; such as logging into Minerva, the University of Leeds online campus.

How to collect your student card

What you need to bring:

  • Passport.

  • Your "registration certificate" (a printed page of your completed online registration) or your student ID number.

  • International students also need their immigration documents and potentially their BRP certificate/BRP collection email.

How to pick it up:

Go to the counter in the Student Services Centre in the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff building. They will take a photo of you and print your card in the next few minutes!

Register for a GP in Leeds

Students in Leeds can benefit from their own specialised medical centre, Leeds Student Medical Practice, located a 5-minute walk from campus.

You can either register online or in-person:

  • Online: Register online by filling in this form: GP Registration Form.
  • In-person: Visit the doctors’ surgery and take with you your proof of identity (passport), proof of your student status (student card) and proof of your Leeds address (accommodation contract).

It’s horrible feeling ill, especially when you are far away from home, so take a look at this article of 4 things to do before starting university to make sure you don’t have any health-related shocks on your arrival!
