Chuy’s Tex Mex food
Everybody loves Mexican food. Unfortunately, there are more and more Mexican restaurants popping up, and the quality of the food somehow decreased in the past few years. But luckily, there are still some amazing Mexican restaurants around, and one of them is Chuy’s. The most surprising thing about this place is that it is actually a chain, but the quality of their food is just superb.
As an appetizer, Chuy’s offers unlimited, freshly made (still warm!) tortilla chips with mild salsa and a queso dip for free! It sounds amazing, and it tastes delicious, but I usually eat so much chips and salsa that I barely have enough room in my stomach to finish the actual meal.
I have been to Chuy’s Tex Mex food quite a few times so far, and I would like to share my experience of eating there with you, so feel free to keep reading.
The restaurant does not look too 'Mexican' on the outside...
... but the interior is a different story.
Menu and my suggestions on what to order
A part of Chuy's menu. As you can see, it has plenty of special offers on it.
Chuy’s menu is pretty extensive, and I am always having a hard time choosing what to order. One of my dilemmas is whether to order food that I already tried during one of my past visits and loved it, or order something new. If I am eating at Chuy’s with one of my friends, the choice is obvious - we each order something different and then sample each other’s food. These are my top picks so far:
Taco salad. Do I need to say more? This is basically a salad, served in an edible tortilla bowl. Also, you should not feel bad for ordering this, because it is a salad, after all. (Who am I kidding?)
Fajita chicken burrito. Their burritos are big enough to feed three people. Seriously. They are enormous, and they usually come with a sideof rice and beans. Eating their burrito is always a good motivation for going to the gym the following day.
Hungry? Then order this!
Shrimp tacos. I love shrimp and I love tacos, but I was a little bit skeptical before ordering shrimp tacos for the first time. But it turned out that shrimp tacos are extremely delicious and flavourful. They are filled with shrimp, a little spicy baja sauce, cilantro, and they taste the best when you sprinkle some lime juice on top.
Tex mex enchillada. This is probably my favourite meal at Chuy’s. it consists of three enchilladas, cheese, rice, beans and a mix of greens, topped with freshly made guacamole and sour cream. Yummy!
Drinks
Chuy’s menu is full of interesting drinks, and, as you have probably guessed, most of them are alcoholic drinks. One of the must - try drinks at Chuy’s are definitely their frozen margaritas, especially the strawberry one. They have frequent happy hours, and the price of the drinks during it can be as much as half cheaper! Cheers.
Prices
A regular entree with a drink will not cost you more than fifteen dollars. Well, maybe twenty, if you order something really fancy or a shareable dish. In general, Chuy’s is one of these rare places where you get a lot of food for a more than a decent price.
A few words for the end…
I am trying not to eat out too often. First of all, because I like to save money, and cooking your own meals is a great way to do so, and secondly, I feel like I always eat too much food when I eat at a restaurant. But when I decide to treat myself a little and have a meal at a restaurant, I like to pick out a place that has some good food for a good price, and Chuy’s never disappoints in both of these aspects.
