Coffee and donuts at Dunkin Donuts
Tempting? I know, right!
While the famous coffee chain, Starbucks, is tremendously popular both in Europe and in the United states of America, I cannot say the same thing for Dunkin donuts. Well, I have seen a Dunkin coffee station at Las Ramblas metro station in Barcelona, but that is about it.
But the story is different in the United states of America. Here, you can see Dunkin donuts around most shopping malls and at almost every rest stop on the highway. And no wonder why, I love their coffee and cheap, but yet delicious, donuts.
Dunkin donuts's interior is usually nothing special, but the food and drinks are amazing.
What to order?
I have been to Dunkin donuts one too many times (if there is such a thing), and these food and drink items are my absolute favourites.
Dunkaccino. Have you ever wondered what it would taste like if you mixed coffee and thick, creamy hot chocolate together? Well, now you can find out, thanks to Dunkin donuts’s invention. Dunkaccino is basically half a cup of coffee and half a cup of hot chocolate, and its taste is just mind blowing.
Every time I drink it and I think of coffee, it tastes more like coffee, and if I think of hot chocolate first, it will taste more like hot chocolate. And just a little hint - do not order whipped cream on top, as tempting as it might sound. It sort of spoils the taste of the drink.
Frozen hot chocolate. I have previously tried frozen hot chocolate in Las Vegas, more precisely in a place, called Serendipity 3. In Las Vegas, a small cup of frozen hot chocolate cost me almost seven dollars, meanwhile in Dunkin donuts, the same portion cost me less than three dollars. And it was just as good - I could not tell the difference. And that also means I do not have to fly all the way to Las Vegas every time I get my infamous crazy cravings for frozen hot chocolate.
Since the Dunkin donuts is a sponsor of the Cincinnati Bengals american football team, you will see the team logo on the cups during football season.
Girl scout cookies coffee flavours. You have probably heard of girl scouts cookie selling tradition in the United states of America. Well, this year, Dunkin donuts decided to do something really cool - they added the most popular girl scout cookie flavours in their coffees.
So you can now (although for a limited time only) get a coffee with mint chocolate flavour (I hate mint chocolate so I did not try this one), caramel chocolate flavour (tastes just like a real cookie, so I had a feeling I am actually drinking a cookie), and peanut butter sugar cookie flavour (tastes good, but it was just a little too sweet for my taste).
S’mores latte. I loooove s’mores, and hence, I love everything that tastes like s’mores as well. In fall, you can get a s’mores flavoured coffee at Dunkin donuts, and I think it is such a shame they do not offer it throughout the year, because I would drink it all the time. Well, maybe this is a good thing. Last year, they also offered Oreo flavour, and it was equally delicious.
Iced coffee with flavour shots. Other than these more unusual flavour shots, Dunkin donuts also offers more ordinary flavour shots that you can order throughout the year. These flavours include raspberry (do not forget to ask for sugar with this one because otherwise it will be super sour), blueberry, toasted coconut (pretty good), almond (you can almost not even taste it), chocolate (very good), and french vanilla (my favourite).
Donuts and donut holes. Donuts at Dunkin donuts come in a variety of flavours and frostings. My favourites include lemon, chocolate frosting, strawberry glazed with sprinkles, and plain frosting with sprinkles. Donut holes are basically just fried donut dough. And it tastes just like donuts, but donut holes are bite - sized. Usually, when you order donuts and donut holes, they are still warm, meaning they are made fresh.

Dunkin donuts also offers some breakfast items on their menu, but I am not a big fan of eating breakfast at fast food places, so I have never tried it. And just an advice - before moving to the United states of America, I thought that iced coffee is gross. Once I moved here, I changed my mind. Iced coffee actually tastes good, and if you order regular hot coffee at Dunkin donuts, it will take at least thirty minutes for the drink to cool down enough not to burn your mouth. So - order iced coffee next time!
How to get free drinks and donuts?
If you join the DD perks club, you will be able, just like in Starbucks, to earn free drinks. It is much easier to earn a reward at Dunkin donuts. Once you get there, you can choose any size of any drink for free.
But that is not it at all. Even if you are not a DD perks member, you can still get a free donut! This is how to do it. Every time you buy something at Dunkin donuts (there is no minimum amount), you will receive a receipt, and at the bottom, you will see a link to an online questionnaire. Once you fill that questionnaire out, you will see a code, which you have to write to the bottom of that receipt. Needless to say, you should not throw that recipe away - you have to bring it with you on your next visit to get a free donut.
You have to answer the questionnaire within three days of purchase, but I do not think the offer ever expires. Last year, I found an almost six month old recipe from Dunkin donuts that I filled out and then forgot about it, and took it with me during my next visit - and I still got the free donut!
Prices
A medium sized iced coffee with an added flavour shot will cost you around two dollars. Donuts are super cheap - they only cost ninety nine cents. In general, I like Dunkin donuts not only because of how good everything tastes, but also because of how affordable everything in there is.
You can also buy coffee mugs, thermoses and water bottles at Dunkin donuts, and none of these items is very expensive.
A few words for the end…
While Starbucks is known to make fancier drinks, you can get a large coffee and three donuts for a price of a regular frappuccino at Starbucks. Of course, I still like to treat myself to a Starbucks drink every once in a great while, but I go to Dunkin donuts much more often. It is cheaper and just as good.
