Toxic brewery
Who doesn’t like to hang out with friends in a cool bar, while sipping good, cold beer? Well, I do not know about you, but I know I do! And last year, I discovered my absolutely favourite brewery up to date. It is called Toxic brewery, and you can find it in Dayton’s most popular nightlife spot, the Oregon district.
This is my favourite view after a long work day.
Where is Toxic brewery situated?
You will find Toxic brewery in Dayton’s Oregon district, which also has some other cool bars, but Toxic brewery is definitely my favourite out of all of them. You will find Toxic tucked between a Goodwill store and another bar, called Hole in the wall.
If you are lucky enough, you can park for free right in front of Toxic brewery, but these three little parking spots usually fill up in the evening, so if you are getting there later, do not count on finding a parking spot there. You can park at the big parking lot next to the Omega store, but do not forget to actually pay for the parking- they are very strict with that, and quite a few of my friends already got parking tickets there. I have not… at least not yet.

Food, drinks and prices
As you can see from the name, Toxic brewery is, well, a brewery, and they are brewing their own beers. Therefore, the drink menu constantly changes, because they are adding new beers to the list almost weekly, and getting rid of the ones that are not selling well. Therefore, you might find your absolute favourite beer there one week, and the next week, you will have to pick a new favourite. Oh well, life is hard.
The staff at Toxic brewery will gladly let you sample the beers before you buy them, and you do not have to pay extra for the samples, which happens in some other places.
My absolute favourite beer at Toxic brewery is called The night ender, and I have to consider myself extremely lucky that, after five months, the beer is still on the menu. I know the name is tempting, but if you want to function for the rest of the night, then do not have this beer the first time you order that night. After all, this is a beer with the highest alcohol volume I have ever tried, hence the name, and it always makes me extremely sleepy.
Some of my other favourite beers at Toxic brewery include Abby XXXX (also a very strong beer), Safety third (with a sweet note) and Hatless bastard(not much flavour, but I still like it because it is pretty strong). In case you did not realize it yet - I love strong beers.

Toxic brewery also offers some typical bar snacks, but do not expect to eat dinner there. If you ask the bartender, what food they have, they will suggest you to walk to other bars that also serve food in the Oregon district.
Most beers at Toxic brewery cost between four and fifteen dollars, depending on the size and style. It might seem a lot for a beer, I agree, but they just taste so good you will not even think of feeling bad for spending so much money on a beer!
Live music and games
Toxic brewery usually opens at seven o’clock in the evening, but if you go there at that time, you will most likely be the only person in there, other than the staff. The crowds usually come in around nine or ten.
And this is the time when the louder music starts playing. Usually, they are playing pre - recorded music at the beginning of the night, and you can barely hear it, but once more people arrive there, they will turn up the volume.
And then, there is either a DJ or a live band later in the night. The bands are more rare, but the DJ is there every night. The best part - the DJs are usually more than happy to take song requests from people, which is pretty rare.
Toxic brewery also offers some typical bar games, such as darts and pinball, and you do not have to pay to play them. But you do have to wait for your turn, sometimes for a really long time. Some of the groups are really inconsiderate sometimes, because they just keep playing multiple rounds, not really caring there is more people who would also like to play.
If you go there and feel like the bar is too crowded for you, do not worry. Just wait for a few minutes and most likely, the bar will empty. The reason for that is, that Oregon district is an extremely popular destination for bar - hopping, and a lot of people just go there, have a drink, and head to the next bar in a row.
Souvenirs
If you like Toxic brewery and would like to take a piece of it home with you, you can buy one of their T - shirts, tank tops, or beer glasses. Or, you can even buy their beer, which comes in a cool bottles, and it will last for a while because they are selling it by the gallons.
I am a proud owner of the blue tank top and I wear it most of the times when me and my friends visit Toxic brewery.
The staff
One of many things that I love about people who work at Toxic brewery, is how friendly they are towards customers. And I am not talking about usual bar workers friendliness. At Toxic brewery, the bartenders will treat you like one of their friends, and you will feel like you have known each other for a long time.
And it is not uncommon of them to offer to take a picture of you and your friends whenever they see you are attempting to take a selfie with ten people in it. And one time, the bartender (I am sure it was on purpose) took a selfie of himself before taking a picture of me and my friends. And when I was looking at the pictures a few days later, I just could not figure out how his picture got into my phone… until I remembered that he was taking a picture of us the other night. It was hilarious.
A few words for the end…
Toxic brewery is definitely my favourite to - go place for after work or Friday night drinks. And other people love it too - the bar is always full when I go there. Despite the higher prices for some of the beers, this bar offers enough that I never feel bad about spending ten dollars on a small beer.
